CL Desktop 0.61 (Mac OS X)

clunky but functional and free

CL Desktop uses Adobe AIR as its container. As a result, this does not look, feel or act like a native OS X application, but more like a crude flash app. However, it does work fairly well. And the price is nice. I would encourage the developer to work more with AIR to see if it's possible to make something that feels more smooth and less jerky, more OS X native and less Win 3.1 looking. The included themes merely dress up mismatched font formatting. Barely dresses it up. This app does trim out the craigslist fluff, presenting more relevant information than the over priced Marketplace application, which just regurgitates the full web page inside a native OS X shell. I have recently seen some issues with posts labeled as created days ago, yet their headers indicated they were posted hours ago. Perhaps they were edited posts? Or perhaps a bug? Summary: Pros: free, functional Cons: clunky, ugly [alert admin]

Stella 2.2 (Mac OS X)

Poor documentation

I'm still not quite sure how to play a game with this emulator. I can load a ROM fine, and I mapped my reset to a key not being used, but I don't know where to go beyond that. Basically, the instructions for this software are not user friendly. [alert admin]

PithHelmet 2.6.6 (Mac OS X)

NetNewsWire compatibility?

Has anyone else gotten 2.6.6 to work with NetNewsWire 2.1? I'm a paid customer for both products, yet I do not see that Pith is blocking ads in NetNewsWire. Works fine for Safari, as usual. Great product! [alert admin]

JPEGDeux 1.7b (Mac OS X)

Why JPEGDeux crashes

The crashing is caused when the application cannot find the images left in the slideshow window from previous viewing. If you leave images listed in the window and then delete or move them, you'll get a crash the next time JPEGDeux starts up. Since the image locations are stored in the preferences file, deleting the prefs "fixes" the crashing. Solution is to clear out the images in the slideshow window or keep your images in the same place. I tried to compile JPEGDeux on 10.3.5, but it failed with too many errors to get through. The solution could be pretty easy for the developer to fix, but I'm not sure he's around. [alert admin]
