D2X-XL 1.5.95 (Mac OS X)

Requires ORIGINAL GAME DISKS

macosxjunkie: Do you have the original game disks for Descent 2, or are you just trying to start it after downloading it? You need the data from the original game disks, and this is not included in the download. If you DO have the original game disks and are still having problems, please visit the D2X-XL forums and post about your problem in the Mac OS X bug thread ( http://descentbb.net/viewtopic.php?t=8984 ) or e-mail the developer. Safari Bookmark Exporter 1.0.2 (Mac OS X)

Fix for "Analyze Bookmarks" button doing nothing

Sorry, guys, it seems the fix for the problem that many people are reporting was right under my nose -- I had encountered it before, but didn't think to point to it as the culprit. The "Analyze Bookmarks" button will do nothing if you have NO bookmarks in either your Bookmarks Menu or Bookmarks Bar (probably because I specifically look for these folders in order to correctly transfer them to the correct place in other browsers). The workaround is, obviously, to put a dummy bookmark in the Bookmarks Menu or Bookmarks Bar, if they're empty. Then SBE should work as expected. Sorry about that, I'll be fixing this in an upcoming version! -- Simone Manganelli, Ellipsis Productions [alert admin]

Safari Bookmark Exporter 1.0.2 (Mac OS X)

Please send bugs to me

Hey, guys, if you're having a problem with SBE, please send me an e-mail at simX@mac.com ... I can't really communicate very efficiently on this awful message system here at VersionTracker, so I'd appreciate it if you could e-mail me and describe your problems. That way I can help figure out the problem and maybe fix it. Thanks. -- Simone Manganelli, Ellipsis Productions [alert admin]

Please Read Help Documentation

When you have a problem with a program, please read the included documentation. To use SBE, you first click the "Import Bookmarks" button (the "Open Safari bookmarks from default location" checkbox is only if you don't want to open the bookmarks file from the regular place at which it resides in your computer). Then you select the browser you want to export to, and then you click "Export Bookmarks". -- Simone Manganelli, Ellipsis Productions [alert admin]

I've figured out…

the problem. People who are having problems undoubtedly have bookmarks whose names have a quotation mark in them. Shame on you for being so sneaky. Hopefully I'll have a fix out soon that solves this problem, so that you guys can ALL finally export to Camino. Funny that the problems don't crop up with the other browsers, though... -- Simone Manganelli, Ellipsis Productions [alert admin]

LimeWire X 2.9.1 (Mac OS X)

NEWS FLASH: Acquisition…

actually uses the LimeWire core. You will get the exact same results on Acquisition as you do on LimeWire. No need to use this crappy piece of software (i.e.: LimeWire). [alert admin]

Memory Usage Getter 2.2 (Mac OS X)

Marty: If you…

are having problems with the enabling of columns (and deleting preferences doesn't help), please send me a detailed report of how to get this error to occur, because I have not seen this problem before. As for the GUI needing "polishing", please elaborate (preferably by e-mail), because I don't understand what you mean here. My e-mail address is simX@mac.com . ||||| youcanrunnaked: Windows should always remember placement -- please e-mail me as well if you are having problems with this (after deleting preferences), because I have not run into this problem either. As for the other problem, you are confusing memory with CPU usage. Memory Usage Getter is very processor intensive when actually getting the stats, so you can see MUG's CPU usage fluctuate a lot, but it's memory footprint will always stay more or less constant. ||||| -- Simone Manganelli, Ellipsis Productions, simX@mac.com [alert admin]

Memory Usage Getter 2.1.1 (Mac OS X)

Actually, it's probably…

that other applications are eating up memory... which is especially a problem in Mac OS X 10.2.3 and 10.2.4 -- ironically iTunes seems to be a big culprit, as is Silk from Unsanity. However, to verify that MUG is leaking memory, you need to look at _MUG_'s memory usage. Note that if you even move a window around, it can cause it's memory to be used up more, but I have never seen MUG to use up more than around 30 MB on my computer. Just keep pressing the refresh button a few times, and you'll see that MUG's memory footprint remains constant. -- Simone Manganelli Ellipsis Productions [alert admin]

This version may be free, but you must own the original version for it to work.

In the read me, there is a link to Descent 2 demo data if you want to try out D2X-XL. But yes, in order for you to have access to all the levels of Descent 2 or Descent 1, you must have originally bought those games and have access to those data files. Sorry, but we don't own the rights to those files and therefore cannot distribute them.

Full Screen?

paulc: Included on the D2X-XL disk image is a "d2x.ini" file that you can use to make fullscreen a permanent option. To do so, make sure that you have a "-fullscreen" option in the d2x.ini file, and that there is no semicolon in front.

Issue with accented / special characters in IE 5.2

I've dealt with this issue before, and I've yet to come up with a reliable way to solve this problem. IE's Unicode support is very poor, and as such, I'm not sure if I'll ever be able to fix this problem.

Why does it ask for the master password

SBE does not ask you for your master password. If you are getting asked for your password, then it's a different application that's asking for it. Just click the little reveal arrow button to see which application is requesting your password.

Re: Good, but...

Can you be more specific on what you want improved? The current progress bar simply shows more data at a glance, which is an improvement over the previous version -- if you don't want everything showed, you can simply set the colors of the various memory types to be the same, so it won't appear as if the progress bar is showing different data. -- Simone Manganelli, Ellipsis Productions
