iPhoto to Picasa Web Albums 1.4.1 (Mac OS X)

Am I missing something?

I don't see the point in paying for this when there's already a free alternative from Google

Leap 1.0.6 (Mac OS X)

overpriced

Very nice application. I'd like to recommend it. However, with the cost of Leap at almost half of the entire Mac OS X operating system (let's not even talk about how cheap a Family Pack for OS X is), I cannot justify spending so much for something to find my files, especially when I have little trouble locating the thousands of files I already have. When the Finder does a decent enough job, especially when combined with a freeware application like QuickSilver. $60 is unreasonable. The developers fail to understand that if they priced Leap at no more than $29, they'd likely have more than twice the amount of sales, thus, making a higher profit and have more widespread use of their product. Because of the steep price, I cannot recommend the product because the trade-off is simply not worth it. [alert admin]

Mail.appetizer 1.3b1 (Mac OS X)

can't access preferences

First of all, this is a great tool. Thanks for developing it and it's great to [almost] have it back for Leopard. I downloaded and installed this, but despite showing up in my preferences in Mail, I can't access the controls. When I click on the Notification icon in preferences, nothing happens. I've deleted appetizer both in my ~/Library/Mail/Bundles and Bundles(disabled) and tried reinstalling but to no avail. Any help out there for this? [alert admin]

Toast Titanium 9.0 (Mac OS X)

free alternative

If Toast is buggy for you, as it seems to be for many, I'd like to point out some excellent open-source software called SimplyBurns. It works very well, is stable and I haven't had one bad cd or dvd yet with using it.

LaunchBar 4.3.5 (Mac OS X)

Indispensable

A very simple tool that is hard to live with once you've used it for a while. Highly recommended. Has never crashed on me. [alert admin]

1Password 2.5.10 (Mac OS X)

Excellent but keep it light

This is a terrific tool. Thank you for your frequent updates as well. One thing though is that it's nice to have this as a lightweight utility and too often apps tend to become larger and larger, losing their speed as a tradeoff. It would be nice if this superior tool could avoid that software pitfall. [alert admin]

Seems to work well. Nice to have a simple look to the overdone Leopard dock. Thanks! [alert admin]

Art Directors Toolkit 5.1 (Mac OS X)

Nice, but far too expensive

This is a handy tool, however $49 is way too high a price - that's getting close to half the cost of the new Mac operating system!! If you'd lower your price to something realistic, like $20, you'd probably make more sales and gross more per year. [alert admin]

Apple Battery Update 1.3 (Mac OS X)

from more to less capacity

I checked the capacity of my new Apple battery before running this update. It was listed as 5272mAh. After running the update, my capacity is now listed as 5253mAh. This is not a huge difference but I certainly didn't expect the capacity to go down. [alert admin]

Cultured Code is watching you

If you're worried about this or any other app calling home, then use Little Snitch and have the choice of whether or not applications can call home (or even if they are calling there or not)

greyscale Screen Sharing in Leopard

I have the same gripe about not being able to use greyscale in CotVNC, but here is a way to get Screen Sharing in Leopard to use greyscale:

To change this setting manually, open up the Terminal and type in the following command:

defaults write com.apple.ScreenSharing controlObserveQuality 2

This changes the controlObserveQuality setting within this plist file: “~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.ScreenSharing.plist” file to 2, which is grey scale. To change it to a different resolution, substitute the…

Looks pretty but functionality limited...

Senuti is an excellent tool for copying music from an iPod, and would work perfectly if you just wanted to copy one playlist. I went to the website for Music Rescue and found the contact info from the developers by clicking: About Us -> Staff -> Contact Us. Pretty simple.
