LaCie SilverKeeper 1.1.4 (Mac OS X)

Simple but works for me

I bought a 2GB Big Disk to attach to my Airport Extreme BAse Station, originally to use Time Machine with Leopard - then I found out 10.5 didn't support it (Thanks Apple!) and I couldnt get AirDisk to work anyway because the naffin Base Stations wouldn't join the existing WDS Network. Eventually I got the AXBS to connect to WDS by manually configuring the DNS and voila one SAN set up. Time Machine still not available so I used Silverkeeper 1.1.4 to do a simple backup of my User Folders. The network is too slow to do multiple backup sets so I settled for one set (Copy Set to Folder set unchecked) with "Never remove Files" set in the Options tab which means if I delete a file on my Mac is's still in the backup set. I exclude Caches and Podcasts. I backup 2 portable Macs to the SAN (and one IBM PC laptop) with a timed backup which takes about 20 mins to scan about 20k files. Occasionally the SAN goes offline (probably because it's in a cupboard upstairs ) but generally it works reasonably well. Now that Time Machine is available with 10.5.2 I may consider upgrading but as I need to use one application that still Classic dependant I'm in no rush and this works for me. For a bootable backup I also use 2 x 4G 80GB iPods, and for offsite storage I use InterArchy to send my user files. [alert admin]

Netcraft Toolbar 1.0 (Windows NT, Windows XP, Windows 2000)

Very effective

Does what it says on the box - very adept at intercepting phising sites. A must for all users - just a pity there isn't a Mac version! I've used for over a year without a single problem and now even report sites. [alert admin]
