Parallels Desktop 3.0 Build 5600.0 (Mac OS X)
The 'search for updates' stalled (gyrating rainbow ball). But after logging into my account at Parallels, and being asked whether I wanted a trial license or just an download, choose download. Ran the installer. Booted into Windows XP Pro SP3, Parallels Tools Wizard launched automatically, went through the process. Rebooting into Windows took some time, but finally completed. As for Linux Ubuntu, Parallels Tools installation still fails, but I expected this to happen, the specs of Build 5600 don't even mention Linux. I hope Parallels "promise" that a build compatible with Ubuntu would be released by the end of May, or sometime during June (2008...) will hold. All in all, Parallels is fine. [alert admin]

Google Earth 4.3.7191.6508 (Mac OS X)
Navigation is faster and smoother, much faster and much smoother. Some locations have been dramatically improved with ground level high resolution photos, step by step along a given street, and this in a rural environment where I could barely see a fuzzy outlay using the previous version. Now I can see the house I was looking for, in great detail. I'm not very sure how to deal with the "Flight Simulator", but this is a beta version, it will improve, and anyway personally I'm not overly interested in this feature. In urban areas, buildings are displayed in 3D, as indicated in Version Tracker. The detail and perspective are razor sharp. Way to go! Macbook Intel Core 2 Duo, 2GHz [alert admin]

Xupport 3.4.3 (Mac OS X)
Version 3.4.3 does not install.
Running the 3.4.3 package does not update an existing Xupport 3.4.2. Uninstalling an existing 3.4.2, and running the 3.4.3 package does not install Xupport at all, there is no Xupport anywhere. I am registered user of Xupport 3, and I have been using it since iMay 2003. [alert admin]

Xupport 3.4.3 (Mac OS X)
I have run the 3.4.3 installer 4 times. 1. The existing 3.4.2 is not updated. 2. After uninstalling 3.4.2, , ran the 3.4.3 installer again. No Xupport 3.4.3, or any version for thet matter, anywhere. 3. Ran the installer, changing the folder where Xupport should be installed, from Applications to Utilities. Xupport is nowhere. 4. Restored a 3.4.2 copy from a backup diisk, ran the 3.4.3 installer. Back to square one, the existing copy of 3.4.2 is not updated to 3.4.3. Whenever 3.4.2 is launched, it indicates an update is available, I download the update, run it, etc. Anybody else having this problem? Thanks in advance. Charly, registered user of Xupport 3. Apple Mac OS X 10.5.1 (Mac OS X)
Puzzling and border-line disappointing.
Applied the update on two laptops (see further) where the now famous ARDAgent.app version was 3.2.1, as set by the immediate Software Update that followed the installation of Leopard. On a PPC G4 15", after restart the gyrating black "clock" went on for 15 minutes, without completing reboot. After listening to the disk clicks, I found out that it was clicking every 10 seconds, supposed it was on a loop, and decided to hard-restart ctr+cmd+Power button. This time it came up, but hand at a startup script I use for gpg-agent. Force quit the script, disabled it in Login Items, restarted, reboot completed. The laptop seems to work OK, no problems noticed when launched various applications. Did NOT try repair permissions yet. On an Inter Core 2 Duo Macbook, no problems of any kind. Installed and rebooted smoothly, the same script as mentioned in the PPC did not hang, all OK. Ran Repair Permissions in Disk Utility. The algorithm that calculates "time left" is not realistic, "one minute left" and after fine minutes "four minutes left", then "11 minutes left", and so on. Finally after 15 minutes or so, it completed after outputing a few hundred lines of reports, all related to the now infamous Remote Management. I'm not going to post that here, I've saved the whole output and will try to post it in Apple Discussions. This Disk Utility issue is quite disappointing, and Apple should pay more attention. Market shares are easy to loose. [alert admin]

Apple SuperDrive 2.1 (Mac OS X)
A couple of warnings before you apply the updae
Model Identifier: MacBook2, Intel Core 2 Duo 2 GHz Memory: 2 GB Downloaded the updated via Software Update. Updater application was installed in "Utilities'. Upon launching the application, a window showed with a progression bar, and a warning in red letters "Don't shut down the computer while update is running, it could result in a non-operative device" These are not the exact words, but that's the spirit. I believe that a ReadMe file might have been included with the archive, warning the user to have the laptop duly connected to a power source (the laptop's battery, an UPS, or something). The updater completed its job within 20 seconds, or so, with a "stop" of 10 seconds at 60% completion. At the end, it indicated that the device firmware had been updated, and that the computer should be restarted. Clicked the OK button, open applications started to quit, at the end there was a warning: "No updatable deviice was found". Clicked the OK button, the restart process completed. Booting completed too. I tried again Software Update, which found no software update required. I still have to test the SuperDrive itself. Sorry for the long story. [alert admin]

Application Annihilator 1.2 (Mac OS X)
Appliciation (sic) Annihilator 1.2 - information does not match.
The preview information shows 'Version 1.0.4'. When I click the "I" icon in Finder, or type cmd+i, I get an information window that indicates: Kind: Application (PowerPC) Version: Automator Launcher Version 1.0, Copyright 2004 Apple Computer, Inc So, which one is it? Version 1.2 or Version 1.0.4? (1.0.4 is Apple's Automator version number in Tiger) Is it a PPC application, or an universal binary one? I am running a MacBook Intel Core 2 Duo. I don't care about the spelling error 'Appliciation", but I very much care about the information that does not seem to match the application. If it is an application, it's probably a script, but a script can also be an application. I prefer not to use it, until the developers, Emory Dunn, are clearer about all this. [alert admin]

Apple Safari 3.0b (Mac OS X)
In a previous feedback, I was surprised by the system restart that was required after installation of Safari 3.0b. Now I realize that because Safari is integrated into Mac OS X, its replacement by another version requires the actualization of certain internal system links. I have now tested the new Safari on sites that previously required the exclusive use of Microsoft Internet Explorer running on a Windows system. Safari behaves just fine. For "normal" sites that do not require IE for Windows, the new Safari is faster that its predecessor. I can't stop-watch it, but I can remember how certain sites were so slow to come up. I also subscribe to most of the remarks posted by other forum members. [alert admin]

Agree! I still run Eudora 6.2.4 (Paid version) as my "final" MUA, where all incoming messages are downloaded and erased from the servers. I use Thunderbird, and occasionally Apple's Mail because of their interaction with cryptographic mail "plugs-in" that are being developed and updated. When using Thunderbird or Mail, they are set to leave messages on the servers. A set of excellent AppleScripts was provided long ago by Mr. Richard Chang. Those AppleScripts, together with Eudora…

Agree, wholeheartedly and unfortunately: same errors in displaying pages. One of many instances: top lines are displayed mixed together in one single garbled line. I'm back to Flock, not a marvel, but much more reliable.

Heading the warning, I was very careful with every step: downloading, expanding, installing. Had no problem whatsoever with these. The updated application, when I compare it to the previous release, displays some strange graphic flickering when I "walk" along a certain street, where successive panoramic 3D photographic shots had already been added in the previous release. Then, there was no flickering, the pictures were displayed with constant stability. Maybe the cause is not the new…

Thank you, I forgot to mention that I had already done that: drag 3.4.2 to the Trash, then install. I have done it once more, right now, the result is still the same: no 3.4.3, or for that matter, no Xupport has been installed anywhere. I have already submitted, yesterday, a support ticiket to the developer.

Installer Works Perfectly in Safe Boot Mode
I also sent an e-mail to the developer, and received the following answer (copy/paste): <We appologize for the inconvenience. In rare cases this kernel panic happens during unloading the kernel module of the previous version. This bug is already fixed within 2.0.2 and will not happen again during the next update.". So...take your pick. Either the bug (so there's a bug?) has been fixed etc..., and/or boot in safe mood. The wonderful world…

works just fine here on Leopard
I had the same occurrence on an Intel machine and on a PPC one, both running Leopard 10.5.1. Instead of restarting normally, as it should and as any other application does, this update produced a kernel panick (not a "kernel panick"), something that I had not experienced for at least a year. This is not a negative post, and this is not an isolated occurrence. This forum is public, as far as VersionTracker is concerned,…

Comment . ClamXav 1.1.0 with engine 92
With patience, and in spite of the 403 warning, it is possible to download the software. I did. I would recommend, before installing the new version, to run the uninstaller that came with the previous version, and only then install and run the new version. I didn't do that, and when I launched the new version, it tried to display the sheet to install the new engine, stalled, and froze the computer.…

Without paranoia. I installed Google Desktop, didn't find it useful, tried to get rid of it. It took hours of searches in Terminal, based upon the Console logs. That thing install itself anywhere, and it's very difficult to really get rid of it.

Be careful if you install Google Desktop
Thanks, I had similar problems, and more, until I succeeded to get rid of Google Desktop. It took many hours of searches. My advice: don't install it.

Did you run Disk Utility to Verify or Repair Permissions? If you did, and didn't get any warning about ARDAgent.app, then everything is just fine.
