Readiris Pro 12.0.1 (Mac OS X)
I did do the ripoff upgrade from 11.5 and the first problem I had was having to open the program the first time from an Administrator account because it wouldn't open from my User account (it would be nice if they told you that). After that, the program works pretty much like 11.5 but faster. It did crash a couple of times before I learned to use it correctly but it seems to do pretty much what it is supposed to which is Scan and OCR. Granted I haven't tested it with a long project just a single page or two. No, I don't like the interface which feels very much like a port and is completely "UnMac" but as others have noted, its pretty much the only game in town. I wonder why that is? Is this such a specialized market that nobody wants to jump in? [alert admin]

CUPS-PDF 2.4.6.1 (Mac OS X)
I can't seem to get it to work. It doesn't show up when I add printer not even with the option button as in the documentation. I know the files are there because I checked. Reply to This Wednesday, September 30 2009 @ 03:28 AM PDT [alert admin]

Just Translate 1.1.0 (Mac OS X)
As far as I can see, at the moment all this thing does is replicate the Good Translate box. If the devs can get enough people to pay $19 for that, what can I say....? The tipoff is the price. [alert admin]

DEVONthink Pro 2.0pb1 (Mac OS X)
I have used DT since I got my first Mac in 2006. While it has been critical to my work, it did suffer from some problems such as slow loads, instability, etc but it was so useful I stayed with it anyway. But....after using the 2.0 beta for a short while, it is clear that the product has moved light years ahead.....stable, fast, and with MUCH more compact databases not to mention a slew of new features. I am confident enough to dump all my other data repositories and plan on just using DT for all my data in both the work and personal realms. This product is simply ahead of everything else in its class! [alert admin]

Bookit 3.7.5 (Mac OS X)
I complained to the developer about the lack of support for FF3 by saying that it was "a bit lame" not to have that support at this point. The response: "Frankly put, if you don't like it, use something else." This was followed by a series of email exchanges where the devs told me how much they were "offended" by my complaint. LOL....it appears this is a company run by teenagers or those with a teenage mentality. [alert admin]

Bookit 3.7.5 (Mac OS X)
The Dev website confirms that syncing will not work with FF 3 and they are working on it....lame at this point. I also have Bookdog (no relation to company) and it syncs fine with FF# as well as doing other useful things. At this point, I see no reason to keep Bookit except that it has a much nicer Icon. Come to think of it, I think I will switch the icons....problem solved! [alert admin]

Sticky Windows 2.0 (Mac OS X)
Works as advertised and very, very useful. Hate the pink color scheme though. [alert admin]

FoxTrot Personal Search 1.5 (Mac OS X)
This is the one app with which I would have to go back to the PC because Spotlight is so profoundly useless for serious research ( don't get me started). FoxTrot steps in and does about everything I need to and does it quickly and with grace. Everytime I have emailed the devs, I get a timely and responsive answer. I have a few quibbles of course such as the use of non-standard Boolean operators (| instead of OR for example) but overall I am very, very pleased. Believe me, I am a serous researcher and this is what you want! [alert admin]

I heartily second exactly those two recommendations. I just switched to OW but I do miss Growl and search as you type. Also, a keyboard shortcut for Send Link would be great!

FoxTrot not delivering as promised
I am sorry but there must be something wrong with your setup/system. I have used FT since the beginning without experiencing a single one of the problems you identify. Contrary to what you say, this is a serious professional tool.
