KeyCamX 3.3 (Mac OS X)

A lotta fun for just 20 bucks!

Webcams are problematic for Macs these days in general, but this program, in combination with .Mac (ahem, MobileMe) has been great fun! Kudos to the programmers for working within the limitations we have and expanding what we can do with our Macs. Yes, multiple cams are still a challenge but consider the fact that our options have been the ancient firewire iSight or built-in iSight for some time now and that doesn't seem so bad. I can now spy on my dogs while I'm at work! The interface is elegant, and the way it publishes to your iDisk/homepage is seamless. No spinning beachballs or force quits required. Add www.logmein.com to the mix and you can check in on your home from anywhere in the world, on demand, without having Big Brother running all the time. If you have a Mac with a built in iSight, and want to monitor via an external USB cam the workaround is very simple - start Quicktime or iChat using the built-in, then start KeyCam. KeyCam will then use the external cam because it will see in iSight as "in use". After years of trade-offs, Mac users are on the verge of having it all, and these programmers are at the forefront. Support them! [alert admin]

Adobe Flash Player 10.0.0.525 (Mac OS X)

This is BETA people!

It's not so much that Adobe "can be incredibly stupid..." it's that Versiontracker commenters can. See the word "BETA" under license? If you download this, please be prepared for bugs, and please report them. Version 9 is the latest release version. If you hate Adobe for some reason, write it all in a letter and mail it to yourself, but don't confuse people into thinking this software is ready for production. If you don't enjoy playing with beta versions then don't download them. [alert admin]

Delicious Library 2.0 (Mac OS X)

They Made Good...

Since I posted before about not getting my upgrade key, wanted to confirm (as the Delicious team has posted here) that they did make good and today sent me my key, and an apology for the delay. It really is a great program - the scanning from my iSight has been instantaneous. I wish them well on getting thru their growing pains and send thanks for a great piece of software. [alert admin]

Delicious Library 2.0 (Mac OS X)

RECENT purchase - license doesn't work, no response

I like the program, downloaded it a few days ago (5/24). The website assured a free upgrade to 2.0 with a large banner. However, the license code doesn't work for the new version and tech support has yet to respond to 2 inquiries. To be good business people, they should honor their commitment promptly. This program requires a considerable investment in time (not to mention the 40 bucks) so they kind of have their users by the short hairs.I can understand support being overwhelmed & not responding to individuals, but they do have a website and now they have removed all references to the free upgrade for recent purchasers. C'mon Delicious, step up to the plate. On principle, I'll do the work over & go to a competitor if they don't honor their advertising. I'll recommend the program (in spite of the fact that it depends on Amazon's rather dodgy data - there are competitors that work with the vastly superior IMDB database) BUT they need to assure their recent customers that we have made the right investment, and pronto.
