Extensis Portfolio 6.1.2 (Mac OS X)
I don't understand all the fuss. I continue to try out competing products and always come back to Portfolio. Granted, I don't use it for anything beyond art resources, but we have many thousands of them and it does exactly what we need it to do. Maybe I've just become atuned to the interface after using it from the beginning. I agree that it needs to be more friendly to those new to the program. However, this isn't iPhoto...you need to spend more time working within the program to understand how it works. You wouldn't give someone an advanced layout program and expect them to know how it works right out of the box. Why do you expect the same of an advanced data management program? I have absolutely NO problems in a mixed computer environment. I love how easy it is to update the links to images when they get moved or in my case, my hard drive failed. I also really like the fact there is a browser version. This is what I give our PC users on the network. Lastly, I find it interesting that no one lists a competing product they would recommend over Portfolio and why. [alert admin]

Fetch Art for iTunes 1.0.2 (Mac OS X)
I'm having the same problem where Fetch Art requires Perl 5.6 and won't work with Panther's revised updated Perl (5.8). This is a terrific script for iTunes otherwise. [alert admin]

on my G4 with an Epson Perfection 1660. I orginally used it to get over the lack of drivers early on in OS X with an older scanner. Now I use it with my new scanner as the software is simple and intuitive. I've never had any problems figuring out the dpi/resolution for photos or film or getting the output I need, although that could be due more to the quality of Epson's products. The developer is quck to respond and is constantly improving the product for a wide range of scanners. I only update when I see features that I'm curious to try out (hint hint to all those who whine about the numerous updates). I can't think of anyone who wouldn't benefit from this product...from a newbie production artist to a seasoned pro. ***** [alert admin]

QuarkXPress 6.0 (Mac OS X)
I've used Quark since it came out Mr. blah, blah, blah. And I've been a big proponent of the program until it stopped being innovative and the company started to treat its users like a bunch of lemmings who would follow it anywhere. After seeing the bloated price for 6, hearing from customer service that they wouldn't take my order until next week (nor did she even ask to take my phone to contact me later!), I think my agency will stick to InDesign thank you. For the price of Quark you get the whole Adboe Design Suite and it all works together quite fine thank you. Sure, there are things in InDesign that don't work as well as Quark 4.11, but I still see InDesign at 2 way ahead of Quark at 6. And what's this about finding printers who will use it? I haven't had one come back to me yet (even on complicated book work) to tell me they can't use my files or that they had problems. Do you even buy print? What printer would tell a customer no?! I've made 3 of our vendors buy the program...all with no complaints. I even open corrupted Quark files to save them in InDesign. Which reminds me...I haven't had a single corrupted file in InDesign 2 yet after a year of work and when a file does crash, I can reopen it and the latest change I made a minute ago will still be intact (not to mention the 400 or more changes that I made since the last save). Try doing that in Quark in any version! [alert admin]

iSwipe X 1.0b23 (Mac OS X)
problems with the latest release. I'm new to the world of file swapping and have found this program extremely easy to use. I think it's very sleak how it attempts to download from more than one source to achieve success. [alert admin]
