TomTom Home 2.6.2.264 (Mac OS X)
I installed this update without any problems, then used it for over an hour, updating my map and listening to the voice samples that you can add to your device, some free, some at a price. Everything went smooth as butter. Me and my TomTom XL Europ 31. [alert admin]

Logitech Control Center 2.3.1 (Mac OS X)
Problems! I've used my Logitech Optical Mouse Model M-BJ58 for several years now without any trouble in combination with Logitech Control Center, 2.1.4 (214) being the last version I've used, so I didn't think long after seeing that version 2.3.1 (231) was out, and updated to 231. It ruined my afternoon. I spent a few hours recovering from the troubles that 231 caused me. First, 231 insisted that my device (mouse) have at least one button to which is assigned the right click function. Darn. I don't want a right click. My mouse has a left button, a right button and a clickable scroll button. For years I've been happy with the click lock function assigned to the right button, but 231 doesn't let me do that unless the right click function is assigned to, e.g., the scroll wheel click. Worse yet, it removed the existing click lock function from the right button and assigned the right button function to the right button. It also removed the sound control I had assigned to the scroll wheel, and I got that back only after reverting to 214. User beware. [alert admin]

SecureFiles 1.1.2 (Mac OS X)
I'm pretty happy with the secure dmg images I get from DiskUtility. So..., without telling me a bit more about those "options not found in DiskUtility" I'm not really tempted to give SecureFiles a try. Tell us some more. [alert admin]

VisualHub 1.23 (Mac OS X)
I tried to convert an mp4 file to avi format. When I saw that the conversion would take about 1300 minutes, I quit the program, set "Quality" to "Tiny", and tried again, just to see how long it would take this time. The program started, but there was no way to stop it. I had to force-quit it. [alert admin]

Excalibur 4.0.3 (Mac OS X)
The disk image will not open for me. Double clicking the icon or attempting to open the file with Disk Utility does not work. I mailed a report to Rick Zaccone with all (I hope) relevant system info. [alert admin]

LaCie Update Tool 1.4.2 (Mac OS X)
Worked fine for me, it looks like. It correctly identified my 80 GB LaCie Mobile Hard Disk, design by F. A. Porsche, bought in August 2006. It then said "No update necessary (already at version 1.02b)". I am assuming that is true, and that no update is necessary. [alert admin]

Keyword Manager 1.1.1 (Mac OS X)
New keywords gone after uninstall?
KM looks like a great product. Before buying I want to be sure that new keywords will survive after uninstalling KM for some reason. So... Downloaded KM demo and tried it for an hour or so. Used it to create a new keyword, but did not assign it to any photo. Then quit all programs, and uninstalled KM. Fired up IPhoto again. The new keyword was not present in IPhoto's keyword list. Did I do something wrong? PowerBook G4 15" PowerBook3,5 PowerPC G4 (3.2) 867 MHz Mac OS X 10.4.8 (8L127). [alert admin]

Not bad at all for me. Worked like a charm. At least, it started the download without any problems. Perhaps the downloaded file is not the right one? I didn't check.

why? what's the diff with DiskUtility?
Well, ol_pip, you thought <b>that</b> was grouchy? Please don't mind me asking: if you always thought of DiskUtility as being limited for its purpose, what are those limits, and which of those limits does SecureFiles remove? Seems to me that's a legitimate question to ask before I download SecureFiles and spend some time trying it out. It's a lot quicker if you just tell me.

I guess all of us are partly right. But check http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Donationware for what I think is the generally accepted definition of donationware. The software should not lock up after a number of uses; if it does it's not donationware. On the other hand, it seems it's reasonable to expect a donation if the user is satisfied. And with that, I say "over and out". Cheers to all.

Joe Pagliaro, I find timgavin to be in the right. You are changing the generally accepted meaning of the word "donationware". It's as if I invited you to my place for a free cup of coffee but then prevented you from leaving my house before you gave me a dollar or something. You'd be a prisoner.

Well, you can always use pounds and inches. Formula: BMI = 703 * W / L / L, where W is your weight in pounds, and L is your length in inches. For example, for me W = 220, L = 72.4 so my BMI = 703 * 220 / 72.4 / 72.4 = 29.5 -- I guess I'm obese or getting there. -- If I'd used metric units the formula would have been BMIm…

4 prefs fixed and it goes from 10.0.2 to 11.0?
If you look at the popup list showing the Stuffit Expander version numbers you'll see that during the last few years September has been the month they go to a major new version number. I guess since it was September they had to do it again and go from 10.x.x to 11. So much for meaningful version numbers.

That's what I thought too. I'm using version 1.2 of DynDNS Updater, which, according to http://www.dyndns.com/, is the current version.
