Microsoft Office 2004 11.5.5 (Mac OS X)
Since we installed the newest MS Office update (to 11.5.5), Word has a big problem. Whenever someone wants to copy/paste something from an internet page, Word pastes it fully (with all the format and pictures etc.). It takes FOR EVER!...... Should that be much material, Word shows a "not enough memory" message or, more often than not, FREEEZES. The work-around is, of course, to use Paste Special (text-only), but this is rather very inconvenient. In 11.5.4, copy/paste (cmd-c/cmd-v) was doing just fine! [alert admin]

Apple iTunes 7.2 (Mac OS X)
Just upgraded to iTunes 7.2. Works fine with iTunes Plus also in the Swiss store of Apple iTunes. Track price goes from Fr. 1.50 to Fr. 2.-, but most albums totals are the same Fr. 15.-. So far, I only see advantages! [alert admin]

Mozilla Thunderbird 1.5.0.8 (Mac OS X)
Just migrated from Netscape 7.2 to Thunderbird 1.5.08 EVERYTHING moved just marvellously: - all mail folders (I have about 100, including subfolders) - all mails, not a single one lost (I have several thousands, I checked the number in each subfolder:) - addressbook just perfect - preferences (most of them) AND all that just in a few minutes. I first tried to move to Apple's Mail 2. But no luck there, import just a nightmare. I tried for two days, with no success whatsoever. Sorry Apple. Now I am happily using Thunderbird! Long live Mozilla.org!!!! [alert admin]

Netscape X 7.2 (Mac OS X)
Very stable, works very well, very satisfied. For months, I have been using it with no problems at all, and on various hardware too: iMac G5, PowerMac G4, PowerMac G5, all fine. [Would not recommend on iMac G3 Bondi (too slow), but that's history, right?] Much better than IE, Safari, and all the rest. Go Netscape for browsing on the internet, and you even have a mail program included which is great too! [alert admin]

EndNote 8.0 (Mac OS X)
I have been using Endnote version 3.1.3 for years now and have waited for the good moment to upgrade to a MacOS X version of this program. Reading the catastrophic reviews of Endnote 8, I fear I'll stay with Endnote 3 for another couple of years, as it works perfectly and is very fast. Of course, you have the disadvantage to have to start Classic, but this is better than using a buggy "new" version. [alert admin]

Merriam-Webster Collegiate Dictionary 11.0 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)
According to the Technical Support of MW: "Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary & Thesaurus Deluxe Audio Edition v3.0 has been tested and is compatible with the Macintosh OS X running in the native mode." [alert admin]

fine for me on various machines. - Pages which made problems under NS 4.7x are displayed correctly in NS 7.02. Negative: - I don't see much difference between 7.02 and 7.01. - Both 7.01 and 7.02 ask for much memory. I don't have that much on a first generation iMac. In addition, when allowing Netscape memory, the program allows itself to "borrow" more than I allow to it. This is troublesome. [alert admin]

Just to add that Thunderbird imports perfectly from Netscape 7.2 --- what you cannot say from Apple's Mail. So if you are still stuck with Netscape 7 and would like to move ahead, choose Thunderbird and forget about Apple Mail (as long as Apple does not offer import from Netcape 7).
