ProVoc 4.2 (Mac OS X)
Brilliant idea but how to display Unicode fonts properly?
This could be just the program I need to finally learn the Asian language I have been working with for some years. But I cannot get it to display the font properly, in fact sometimes it looks so bad it is impossible to make out the word at all, looking like a mass of jumbled letters. If it were not for that, I would give ProVoc top marks for concept and ease of use, and as for price, what can one say? It's free! Of course, if you are learning a language with a Latin alphabet, you are on to a winner. [alert admin]

I had a bit of trouble setting up Trash Locked Files because I couldn't input the registration key (that you have to email the developer for) on my Intel iMac. Support gave a number of helpful suggestions but it was only when I upgraded to 10.4.8 that it did input and then the application worked as it said. I had done eveything suggested on Apple's support site to get rid of some files in the trash (except single user start-up) but just got that message that I didn't have sufficient privileges....Trash Locked Files sorted that lot out with a click of the mouse. Excellent - and it's free! So thanks very much. [alert admin]

Virtual FireworX Screensaver 1.3 (Mac OS X)
Virtual FireworX wouldn't load...
(running OS X.3.9 on iBook) I downloaded this twice and in the System Prefs screensaver dialog which opens after install I just got this message, and I can't be bothered to do it again: "Screen saver “Virtual FireworX” did not load properly. Please select another screen saver. Error: Can’t load bundle" [alert admin]

I just want to add that fonts show perfectly in ProVoc on my iBook running 10.3.9 but are not rendered properly in this program on my Intel iMac with Tiger although I don't have a font problem in say, Pages. I don't why this is so. The developer is very helpful, by the way.

Well cmd+alt+shift+del do NOT remove the permissions-denied file in the trash on my new Intel iMac (10.4.7), so maybe the app will do the job! Here's hoping.
