RsyncX 2.1 (Mac OS X)

RsyncX v2.1 peacefully coexists with other rsyncs

The readme file contains conflicting info - this version of RsyncX installs its version of rsync at /usr/local/bin/rsync. This allows you to use either version of rsync. [alert admin]

Finder color labels?

Thanks for trying RsyncX.

Panther Finder labels are supported and synced using RsyncX - could you send an example of your problem to rsyncxdev@umich.edu?

Not sure why it's not noticed that the RsyncX binary cannot replace /usr/bin/rsync - which is *not* Apple's rsync. The default rsync comes from rsync.samba.org. The version of rsync included with RsyncX comes from www.opendarwin.org - a site that *is* maintained by Apple employees and external contributors.

what's so difficlt about...

The Apple installed version of rsync is from rsync.samba.org, not Apple. To remove the RsyncX version of rsync - which is a binary version of the source from www.opendarwin.org (a site maintained by Apple employees and external contributors): #sudo rm /usr/bin/rsync #sudo mv /usr/bin/rsync_orig /usr/bin/rsync If you have any other questions or comments, feel free to contact us at rsyncxdev@umich.edu.
