Avogadro 1.0 (Mac OS X)

Avogadro 1.0 Will Not Launch

I downloaded Avogadro 1.0 and tried to run it. It refused to launch. The icon in the dock would open and immediately bounced out. Version 0.9.5 still launches properly, so I cannot blame a fault in my system. My system: iMac G5 (1.8 GHz), 2 GB RAM, Mac OS X 10.4.11 (fully updatred with all current patches) Perhaps there is a problem with the software or that it requires either Mac OS X 10.5 or a different version of Python installed than the system installs by default? Either re-state system requirements or fix the problem. Borborygmus [alert admin]

Sciatrope 0.2 (Mac OS X)

Another dead app that won't boot

I tried to run Sciatrope on my iMac G5 (1.8 GHZ) under Mac OS X 10.4.11 and as is so often the case with careless programming, it bounced back out. It won't boot, therefore a completely useless waste of disk space. Borborygmus [alert admin]

Wings 3D 0.99.04 (Mac OS X)

Why Doesn't The Quit Command Work?

After three attempts to load Wings 3D I finally got a file that was not corrupted. After that I ran the program and then tried to quit it from the menu bar. It would not quit. This is the same unacceptable defect that has been in this application since it first appeared. Why can't the developer make a simple quit command from the menu bar work? Until the developer corrects this defect, I will have no choice but to put each failed version in the trash. This is why I selected the "have not tried" option. This is because it is not a good idea to "try" a product with such a glaring defect. Borborygmus [alert admin]

Dead Game - No Tiles!

This game failed to run because there were no tiles present in the download files. The author's site opens to an empty page, so attempting to make contact goes nowhere. A waste of time end effort. I can't give a proper review from the offered options because it just sits there and quacks like a duck at me when I try to activate anything! [alert admin]

Download Link Fordidden

When i went to the LemkeSoft site to download the PPC (Mac OS X 10.3.x->) version, I received an "access forbidden message" (error 403). It seems a bit obvious that a product that can't be downloaded from the linked server also cannot be either used or paid for. When will this be corrected so the product can be downloaded? Joe C. CRASH!

I opened up Stellarium 0.10.2 on my iMac G5 and -- CRASH! Weird video crud all over the screen, strange folders with unknown data popping up... everything imaginable except working. Try again... this thing has become trash. Borborygmus >:- (

Why All the complaining ?

I just downloaded version 3.0 of Spendthrift and so far... I am puzzled as to why some posters are complaining. It downloaded and ran just fine on my iMac G5 (1.8 GHz) under Mac OS X 10.4.11. When I get time I am going to explore as much of Spendthrift's capabilities as I can. I certainly can't complain about the features vs. price ratio! I would like to see this application continued to be developed. I…

DVDxDV upgrades are terrible

I have DVDxDV version 1.38. I would like to update it to the current version. As you mentioned, there is no way visible at the web site to do this. The developer seems to want you to pay the full US$25.00 price for every tiny bug fix. What is wrong with providing a simple update page on the site? I have no choice but to avoid any and all updates, and will definitely NEVER purchase any more…

0.10 now works with PPC Macs-NOT!

I just tried to run Stellarium 0.10.2 on my iMac G5 (1.8 GHz, 2 GB). Result... KABOOM! It immediately opened up the assigned system screensaver and then crashed. It did this repeatedly. Obviously, it does NOT work on PPC Macs. try again when you learn how to program working code Borborygmus

0.10 now works with PPC Macs

maybe it works with yours, but it won;t run on my G5 iMac. It bounces out almost instantly. Crash city! Until the author can properly address the failure of this thing to run, I cannot recommend it to anyone. Borborygmus

Google Running Amok

I heartily agree. Updates should always be optional, NEVER Mandatory. This is why there is some "Big Name" software that I refuse to use, because of this same destructive and arrogant attitude.

How is this different than using the "Show Package Contents" option in the Finder?

I usually use unpkg to see what is really inside the package, not the gibberish code that the package installer will convert into actual files. The Finder's "Show Package Contents only shows what is literally there (gibberish), not what is going to be installed. It is also possible to extract the actual files themselves, not merely peek inside. I can usually get an idea of what files and where they are going to be installed.…

hmmm let me see...

I wonder if the programmer had bothered to check out Address Book's menu options before he/she/it expended the tie and energy to produce this bit of code?

Why Doesn't The Quit Command Work?

You can live with an application that requires the user to use a force quit to exit the program!? This has to be the silliest example example of bass-ackward thinking I have ever heard as applied to software! This is a dead product. End of message.
