Address Book Reports 2.0.6 (Mac OS X)
Great for people who can't read Address Book's tiny print ![]()

My wife needs reading glasses, and without glasses is unable to read Apple Address Book's tiny print when we try to print out a list of addresses for her. She likes to have addresses, with directions included as notes, in her car - and she doesn't want to have to put on her reading glasses to read them. Apple Address Book's printing options include "smaller" and "larger" print sizes, but they're hardly different at all - they look like 11 point versus 12 point to me. With this app I'm able to print out a customized address book, including most fields of potential interest (including notes), at just about whatever font and type size I want. The 18-point Times New Roman book I've printed out for her is just what she wants. While there aren't a ton of printing options, there are enough to justify the shareware price. Nice job, does exactly what it says it will (and quickly in 10.4) and nice, clean Apple-like brushed metal interface. [alert admin]

Outlook2Mac 1.04 (Windows NT, Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows XP, Windows 2000)
five stars. It has worked perfectly between my Outlook program at work and my iCal at home. The developer was very quick to respond to a tech support question. I've certainly gotten my $10 worth! There's one little hiccup I'm hoping to get help with: After converting my Outlook calendar information to iCal using Outlook2Mac, I can't get the converted appointments into my iPod using iSync. I get error messages instead. I've written the developer and imagine I'll get the same quick response. Great job! [alert admin]

five stars -- and no, I don't have any connection whatsoever with the software author -- to counteract the one star by gerardrj, who gave this one star merely because he sees "absolutely no need for" it. Hey gerardrj, from now on don't give one star just because you don't think something's needed. If you don't need it, don't download it. Of course Mail supports multiple MAILBOXES -- not "accounts" -- but my wife has no interest in seeing or downloading my mail, and I don't want to bother with hers. She has multiple mailboxes and so do I. With this app, she can deal with her multiple mailboxes, I can deal with mine, and we're copacetic. Thanks to the author for one of those "I've been looking for this for a long time" solutions. [alert admin]

wrote that this application is "silly" obviously doesn't understand how incredibly useful this application is to people who want ONE OS X user account so that they can share the same iPhoto, iTunes, Address Book, etc. -- BUT who simply want two or more users for Mail.app. This application fill the bill perfectly and is well worth $10! It goes on my VERY short list of applications that are extremely useful for the typical home user and that fill major holes in the OS (others include iDress and iPhoto Library Manager. This already deserves five stars, but my suggestions for further improvement are: (1) revise the instructions to provide better explanation to "newbies" of how to reconfigure existing Mail.app accounts under another user into one user; (2) perhaps even provide some sort of automated "import" function that takes care of all settings (if that's even possible); (3) provide for payment by PayPal if feasible; (4) create a menu bar button so that Mailswitch can be even more easily accessed. These are all just personal suggestions, though: the program works great as is. Thank you! -- and shame on any unthinking critics who call the idea behind the app silly. [alert admin]

iDress 1.2.3 (Mac OS X)
gotten 1.2.2 to open -- not sure what the problem was, may have been all my machine and no problem with the software -- and I really like this program. It's the last "missing link" in implementation of the OS X Address Book, and has persuaded me to convert all my contacts to Address Book. Very nice options, good printing, good user interface. I'm going to download 1.2.3, and my "wish list" for 1.2.4 is limited to barcodes. Well worth the price! [alert admin]

iDress 1.2.2 (Mac OS X)
had the same problem as z111367 (9/24/02 review; in my case I'm on a G3 400mhz iMac DV with 600+mb RAM, running 10.2.3): it downloaded fine, but when I try to open it the app starts loading, shows itself bouncing in the Dock for a few seconds, and then disappears. Nothing ever appears on the screen. I've emailed the developer twice now, and am hoping for a response. The idea and presentation looks great, but I can't get the darn thing to start. Once I get a response from the developer I'll post a follow-up review. [alert admin]

I'm having the same problem. I bought version 3.0 (Get Info says 3.0.0.30 is installed), and when I try to use the updater I get "you do not have sufficient privileges" message - it hangs when installing info.plist. I am an Administrator so I should have sufficient privileges to install anything. What's up, Nova? Please advise. As it is, my 10,000-image iPhoto file is making this otherwise wonderful app as slow as molasses!
