AddMovie 1.0 (Mac OS X)

Does Exactly What It Says

I had a sixteen part movie file that I dragged into the window, hit Add and had the single movie file in a just a few minutes. Just make sure you start the lowest number at the top when you're adding files. The only thing that would be nice is if I could delete a single file line item. It seems to be all or nothing, so a mistake in the queue required me to re-add every file. Not a big deal. Also, the Add button should be something like "New Movie" or something. My first instinct was to use the Add button at add new files, not to create a new compiled movie. Awesome start, however, and exactly what I was looking for. Thanks. [alert admin]

DVDxDV 1.081 (Mac OS X)

This is a great program

The key thing to remember about DVDxDV is that it doesn't seem to be intended to work with commercial DVDs. I can't say for sure; I haven't tried to do so. But for what it is intended, the program works fast and flawlessley. I burn a lot of DVDs from home VHS tapes using a Sansui VHS-DVD dubbing system (Sears has it). The resulting DVDs are then put into my G4 Powerbook and I uses DVDxDV to make movies from just the segments I want to extract. It has worked flawlessly for me for the last few months. The interface is a little weak (could use more of an OSX feel), but other than that, it works as described. Great work. [alert admin]

Fluid 2.6 (Mac OS X)

Not For Me, It Didn't

I installed this thing per directions on my G4 under OSX 10.2.3 and had a complete system lockup twice when I tried to select it in the Preferences Pane. I mean a hard restart was required. It may work for you . . . I round-filed it. [alert admin]

SiteSucker 1.5.1 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)

Does Great

I Use this product all the time to download stuff and it has rarely failed me. It does what it advertises it will do. I kind agree with the preferences complaints made previously. It seems to drill further down on a site than I want it to. Other than that, it's a great tool [alert admin]

PasswordMaster 1.6.1 (Mac OS X)

If you're just…

looking to conveniently store the many passwords and serial numbers you've acquired over the years, this is a really great program. I have never had a problem with it and now that I can easily backup my data, it's an ideal one-trick-pony (in a good way!). For years, I had serial numbers of applications scattered on scraps of paper and old warranty cards. Now, they're all in one place with a nice simple easy-to-use interface. Thanks for a great product with excellent value at a fair price. [alert admin]

NO WMV conversion support

I have had real good luck converting .wmv files to .mp4 files using a program called iSquint here on VT. I have only tried it with short files (under 3 minutes or so) but it does a very good job with quality at least as good as the original. And I think it's free.
