ScreenFlow 1.0.1 (Mac OS X)
ScreenFlow has some great features, although a little shaky due to v1.0. That said, it's way overpriced and should have come in at $49.95. It would reach a larger marketshare. [alert admin]

Pixelmator 1.0.1 (Mac OS X)
After having Pixelmator during the demo period it's obviously pretty to look at. But, it's sluggish and it's nowhere near as robust as GraphicConverter, a workhorse but lacking a beautiful interface. If it had been $20 I might have gone ahead an purchased it. But, an upgrade to GC was a better deal. [alert admin]

ScreenCaptureX 1.1 (Mac OS X)
Snap N Drag appears to have better functionality. You can at least set the JPEG image quality whereas you cannot in ScreenCaptureX. It has global hot keys as well as other features. Plus, it is free, too. [alert admin]

Shrook 2.51 (Mac OS X)
Tried them all. Keep coming back to Shrook. If you are heavily into RSS then this is the only one that makes sense. Don't think that it's perfect. But, it is the best one available. Now it's free for anyone to use. [alert admin]

iView MediaPro 3.0.2 (Mac OS X)
This new update is horrible in performance. Merely opening or saving the file is almost quadrupted in the amount of time it takes. Bummer! [alert admin]

Gizmo 1.2.1.108 (Mac OS X)
For a year I was a Skype user but several months ago my partners and I began integrating Gizmo into my VOIP. Gizmo is primarily used for business communications since my four partners and I reside in different locations and in different time zones. The past couple of months Skype began dropping packets making our communications unbearable. We bailed and jumped over to Gizmo. Now, Gizmo is not as feature robust as Skype. Nor, does it have the name awareness equal to Skype. Plus, there's currently no file download feature. However, when we did transfer files Skype went to a crawl. So, if Gizmo wisely chooses to integrate this feature it's probably a safe bet that an e-mail with the attachment will arrive faster and not bog anything down. It's also true that international calls with Skype are cheaper than Gizmo. On the flip side I can't say I'm overwhelmed by Gizmo only charging 1 cent/minute to any call within the US when it's computer to telephone. But, it's a start. Then, there's the way Skype can use anyone's personal computer to route calls, not to mention that it's a cpu hog. So, when it's all said and done Gizmo is our choice. We think it has tremendous potential, greater than Skype. It's an indepent decision because we have no interest in any of the VOIP companies and aren't dictated to by anyone or any company. It works for us and we'll keep using it as long as there are no unexpected problems. [alert admin]

Gizmo 1.0.0.55 (Mac OS X)
1. Skype encrypts the phone call. Apparently, Gizmo does not. 2. Skype has chat capabilities. Gizmo does not. 3. Skype can send an attached file using the instant messaging feature. Gizmo cannot. 4. Skype cannot show the point of origin and destination. Gizmo can with its map feature. 5. Often the call quality is better in Gizmo. 6. Gizmo definitely works better at communicating with a party on dial-up. There are other differences. It really appears that the Gizmo team is lagging in implementing competitive features when it comes to Skype. This in itself is quite puzzling. The best guess is that the Gizmo team wants to be purchased since Skype wanted a ridiculous $3 billion to sell out. They figure they're a more affordable deal. Then the new owner could decide what to do with Gizmo. Sorry but does it feel that Gizmo is only a gimmick in which to generate money for its owners? [alert admin]

Default Folder X 2.0.2b3 (Mac OS X)
$35 is a horrible price to pay for this little utility. It should be no more than $20. Or, make a lite version of this and charge less. [alert admin]

iBlog 1.4.4 (Mac OS X)
How does this company stay in business? This new version totally brought my rss down. The support team is non-existent. I am so very angry at Lifli, the company that developed this. I've invested hours upon hours and only had failure. I want to plaster their pictures on every blog and alert people that these are the worst of the worst. They take your money and then they make your life miserable. [alert admin]

I appreciate your feedback. I was an iBlog user until this year. I got tired of all the problems and rebuilds, etc. Tech support was slow. Lifli's attitude was the worst. Really, I was not looking forward to using WordPress but I managed to get it working. Since that day I have not had on problem. Do I feel remorse over iBlog? You bet! It had the potential to be something. For me I will…

The developers are slugs. They don't respond to tech support questions, they've been horribly absent to truly upgrading this software to remain competitive against some of the other blogging software apps, etc. Maybe someone should force them to refund all the money they've taken in after promising great new updates.

Same problem here running 10.3.8. It also made me reboot in order to get the network back up. Probably a small softwaretweak is all that is necessary.
