Cast Easy 1.2.5 (Mac OS X)

Superb product! Superb support! Definitely worth the price.

I have used Cast Easy for about two months to publish 10 episodes in one podcast for my church. 9 of these are mp3 files. One of them is a pdf file. While there were a few bugs in earlier versions, version 1.2.5 seems to work fine. I am mystefied by comments made by earlier reviewers. I do not know what previous reviewers mean by un-Mac like, but I have been using Macs since 1984 and it appears to work like other Mac programs: same types of menus, etc. What makes it Mac-like in my book is that it makes podcasting as easy as it could be. Enough said. dvineducation said he could only publish audio files. I used it to publish a pdf file without a hitch, as well as audio files. It have not tried a video file, but it has been designed to do video, as well. I was looking for the cheapest solution available and I tried a number of podcasting applications, including a free one. This one was by far the easiest to use. And so I decided to pay the $30 because the ease of use was well worth the money. And when I found a bug in an earlier version, it was addressed very quickly by the creator of the program. I now record and edit my audio files with Garage Band, which was free, and export them from Garage Band to iTunes, which is free. Then I use iTunes to "Convert selection to mp3" (under the Advanced menu). Then lastly I open Cast Easy and create an episode. There is a handy button to choose the file for the episode from my iTunes playlists. It cannot get any easier than that. Who wants to fool with drag and drop? Clicking a button is way easier. As for dvineducation's comment that he could not find the address of his feed, it is given to you when you publish your podcast by having a window pop-up telling you its address and giving you three buttons: Submit to iTunes, Visit Page [which takes you to the address of your feed in your default browser] and OK. The one area where this application is weak is in its Help files. I emailed support at the contact us page at casteasy.com and the help given was very prompt, although not immediate. The help I needed was how to complete the information for my ftp server. When I published to my .Mac account I did not need any help, since all the info was supplied. I do not think you will go wrong purchasing this program. Disclaimer: I have no relationship with the creator or publisher of Cast Easy other than being a very satisfied customer. If I were Steve Jobs, I would buy this program from its creator and hire its creator to work for Apple. [alert admin]

Marquee 1.0.4 (Mac OS X)

Sucks up cpu

Verson 1.04 uses up 69 to 82 percent of my cpu on a 1 gig PowerBook Titanium. Unacceptable. Too bad, because it does a very nice job. [alert admin]

New Export Features

Nick, thank you for taking the time to commicate in this forum with us. This is very helpful, as it is the most efficient way of getting information about applications we use. It takes too much time to go to a hundred different support sites to find out what is going on with the apps I use. I wish every company would take the time you took to update us on their product. Works great

I have been using CC for a couple of years to make a bootable clone. When Panther came out, I also found that unless I erased the target disk with Apple's Disk Utility first, the clone would not boot. Roger

Unable to Boot from Backup

I have not had a problem making bootable clones on an ext. firewire drive with 10.3.4 using a PB G4 1 Ghz. However, I did have problems with earlier versions of 10.3 if I did not first erase my external drive using Apple's Disk Utility. Once I discovered that was the problem, I have always used that procedure and never had a problem. Roger

Software Update?!

Regarding how you would know about Backup 2.01, you should have received an email regarding it, as I did. Perhaps you unsubscribed from that email list, or never subscribed in the first place. It is really worth being on that email list to take advantage of the freebies .Mac Subscribers get from time to time. I use Sticky Brain every day, which was free for .Mac Subscribers, but only for a limited time. So sign…
