DecoderPro 1.7.3 (Mac OS 9)

The Best!

If you are serious about programming your trains, but don't have the time, patience or equipment to do it old-school, this is the way to go. Forget memorizing a bunch of CV's or converting to/from hexidecimal, Decoder Pro handles it all for you. The people who work on this project have done a great job of making a program that works across multiple computer platforms, OS's and DCC systems. [alert admin]

Cavendish Screensaver 1.2 (Mac OS X)

My Favorite screensaver, but...

It seems that Cavendish does not run under Snow Leopard. I really hope we see an update, since this is far and away the best screensaver around. [alert admin]

Adobe Reader 9.1.2 (Mac OS X)

Adobe, we have a problem with 9.1.2

On my brand spanking new iMac with 10.5.7, the installer quits half-way through. I get the following message: The patch has failed because the application has been modified since it was originally installed. An odd message since I'm working off of a clean, fresh install of Reader 9.1.1. [alert admin]

LimeWire X 4.12.11 (Mac OS X)

Is peer-to-peer dead?

So, is it possible to use this program to find anything of any value anymore? Even searches for basic and very common files limited sources. Of course every search finds this crap:

New Movie Preview - PRIDE - Watch the Trailer Now

korn - freakonaleash - unplugged

So much for file sharing... [alert admin]

Torgo 2.1 (Mac OS X)

Torgo's Theme

Of course the sound drives you nuts! How do you think torgo got to be the way he is?!? I wouldn't mind hearing some actual Torgo sound clips from the movie though. [alert admin]

Flat out doesn't work

I could never get the "rev A" version to work, so I was excited to see the release of "rev B". A quick download/install/repair of permission get me nuthin... As soon as I launch the palm app, it responds with an "unexpected end of file" message then quits. This is the EXACT same problem I had under the old revision, so again my G5 and Palm T3 till can't talk to each other. [alert admin]

Palm Desktop 4.2.1 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)

Just won't work...

I've used Palm Desktop on my G4 TiBook (OS 9.2.2) without a problem. No such luck on my G5 desktop (OS 10.4.1) though, as I can't even get the app to launch. The install seems to have gone OK, but double-clicking on the Palm Desktop app gets me an "unexpected end of file" error then the program quits. It's been over a year since the last update from Palm- you'd think they'd be "Tiger ready" by this point in time. [alert admin]

RailModeller 2.2 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)

Finally a great designer for Mac's

I've tried several other layout design programs for the Mac, and have been less than impressed with most. The solutions out there for Windoze are many, but often have a very steep learning curve (not to mention price). RailModeller is easy to use, has an intuitive interface, and lets you save your output in a variety of formats. After playing with it for just a few minutes I was designing ladder yards, staging and curves with easments. [alert admin]

Kid Pix Deluxe 3X 1.0 (Mac OS X)

Fun for kids

The old version of Kid Pix was the only reason I still had classic hanging around on my system. Now that this version is here, I may never have to mess with classic again. The kids enjoy playing around with this a lot and it's a great way for them to learn some basic mouse/keyboard skills. [alert admin]
