WinSwitch 3.1 (Mac OS X)

Winswitch on Intel

Although the developer has said Winswitch is compatible with Intel based Macs under Rosetta, it doesn't work. Downloaded and installed yesterday on a new 20" 2Ghz Intel iMac. Winswitch failed to activate itself. [alert admin]

Synergy 1.2 (Mac OS X)

The BEST

This software is stable, full-featured and AWESOME! No other way to put it. Those of you who insist on pirating Synergy, the software may be dying soon unless things change. See Wincent's latest note: http://wincent.org/article/articleview/246/1/25/ I can't live without this software [alert admin]

Proteus 4.0b33 (Mac OS X)

Never Crashed

I don't think you have used the latest versions - Version 4 is rock solid and I have never had a crash. Rather than complaining you should post your crash logs at the Proteus forums so the developer can help you out. [alert admin]

Proteus 4.0b2 (Mac OS X)

GEEZ PEOPLE!

PEOPLE!! Geez, look around the application! There are tons of preferences for turning off contact list features (buddy icons, status icons, etc etc.). If you would take a moment to go through the program and check out the options you would be incredibly happy! I've been using Proteus for many years now and have always enjoyed the responsiveness of the developer, his dedication to his users and the ease-of-use of Proteus itself. Version 4 is sooooooo much better than any prior version and there aren't any major features that are missing. If you actually visit the message boards, read the Read Me and listen you will see that everything you need is here. EVEN FILE TRANSFERS WORK PEOPLE! JUST READ THE READ ME FOR THE DETAILS! iSeek 1.0.1 (Mac OS X)

Almost perfect

I've been trying out iSeek and have one quibble - it takes up too much space in the menubar. Yah yah, I know I can resize it and I could even hide the search field if I wanted to. The problem with the first option (resizing the field) is that it still takes up space in my menubar. The problem with the second option (hiding the search field) is that a simple click of the magnifying glass doesn't return me to the last used search source. What I would really like is to hide the search field and upon clicking the magnifying glass, the search field slides into view and I can then type in my search. An X could be placed on the right side of the search field in place of the site icon. Clicking this X would again close the search field so only the magnifying glass is visible until I click the magnifying glass again where the search field then slides into view. That would be truly efficient. [alert admin]

MPlayer OS X 2.0b5 (Mac OS X)

audio

I have frequent problems playing audio - just garbled screaming. Plays audio fine in Quicktime Player so I know it's not my file. [alert admin]

Proteus 3.0.1 (Mac OS X)

website not the fault of the developer

If any of you had any knowledge of hosting and hosting providers you would know that most of the time a website's downtime is caused not by the creator of the website but because of the host. That is exactly the problem and Justin is transitioning to a new host because of it. I have never had a problem with Proteus, and it has always functioned very well for me. Maybe people should check out the stability and maintenance issues with their own machines before blaming some one else. As for MSN and Microsoft transitioning to a new security model and closing the doors on third party clients, give Justin a little bit of time okay! Geez, this just came up a couple weeks ago and everyone is still learning about it. MSN will continue to work, worst case scenario will be a tiny bit of downtime on the MSN network. Do you really think Justin wants to have a crippled client and not even be able to use MSN himself? Give me a break. Proteus is awesome! [alert admin]

Acquisition 0.966 (Mac OS X)

If you don't know, check first!

From the Developer's web forum: -- Version 0.966 corrects some synchronization issues with 0.964 that could lead to orphaned processes sitting around on your computer. This seemingly correlates with lost download lists and difficulty connecting to the network. Because these orphaned processes can still be around from 0.96* installations, you ought to restart your computer before installing 0.966. 0.966 places the "Incomplete" folder in the correct location (as a subdirectory of the download folder). Finally, thanks to a text rendering optimization, 0.966 should be noticeably faster when scrolling through very long lists of results. -- I would suggest to people that they check things out first before randomly attacking people on grounds that are baseless. I enjoy Acquisition and am glad I purchased it. [alert admin]

Proteus 3.0 (Mac OS X)

read the Read Me

Both of you need to read the Read Me. You probably just need to re-enter your service passwords. Check to see if they are blank in the Accounts Preferences. [alert admin]

Awesome

I love this app. It's small, gives you complete control of iTunes and now I can access my playlists! The developer is awesome and very responsive. Synergy is DEFINITELY worth $5.00 [alert admin]
