If you really, really, truly must have it, then try this first. I guarantee you will feel better:
1. paste the following into your Applescript script editor:
set the_command to "curl -s 'http://www.dhs.gov/dhspublic/getAdvisoryCondition' | grep CONDITION"
set the_level to (word -1 of (do shell script the_command))
display dialog ("Terror Alert Level: " & the_level) buttons default button 1 with icon 2 giving up after 10

b) buy your kids an ice cream sundae, hug them, tell them what makes America great: among other things, the freedom to publish software crap like Homeland Alert, the freedom to mock it, or ignore it.... FREEDOM. But also teach them about RESPONSIBILITY, the value of a dollar and making a difference in the world. Teach them that taking illegal drugs, driving SUVs, and sending money to Tim Mityok are 3 ways to tell that you have Too Much Money and TOO LITTLE BRAIN!! [alert admin]

Homeland Alert 3.5r2 (Mac OS X)
Homeland Alert Alert v.0.1a Announced
In the next several months I will be developing and refining a haxie for the menu bar that will display an alert each time "Homeland Alert" changes its version number. It will also communicate this to your bluetooth enabled devices, your cell phone, send an email to everyone in your address book, and fix you a cup of soothing herbal tea.
Because I will be devoting subtantial effort and time in this project, I will ask a shareware fee of $5.00.
Anyone who does not pay after downloading and using this software will find their cats shaved, and their car's gas tank filled with sugar.
Anyone who does not download this software, probably also has the good sense to pay no attention to Homeland Alert, or, if truly paranoid, simply run the script offered by BobW12 back in January [alert admin]

KidsGoGoGo X 8.2 (Mac OS X)
From their own web site (go ahead, follow the link...): Now, support the Screen log as MPEG-4 movie! [what he** does that mean?] KidsGoGoGo support OSX 10.3 Panther [supports?] Kids GoGoGo prohibits the browsing of adult-only contents [content] on the internet. [Internet] Web filtration for home, school, public space and office. Non-expense and Administration or maintenance costs nothing. [Uh, what?] Try the worlds first parental control for Mac OSX. [would that be "world's?"] Support Multiple user : Restricts sites for all users automatically. New build-in surveillance server makes it harder to disable filtering. [built-in?] I do not demand that all programmers provide English language versions of their software. I do, however, expect that if a product is marketed to English speaking people, the documentation will be in comprehensible English. When one has to de-bug their homepage of such pathetic misuse and misapplication, one has to seriously wonder about the product. More so, if one has tried version 8.1 and found it to be a truly frightening experience. I also note that there is no explanation of why we have been blessed with an update... Install this, no! No! NO! [alert admin]

Installed the demo Macintosh of the System Panther. I no understand of the documentt not fully or with much of well. Frighten me of what is to happen. Maybe program of software is good but I am not reading of instruction with clear. Maybe instruction looks of English language but is of other type. Put on program to stop child of looking boobies. See boobies no problem. See much part of Internet no like for the baby. I don't know why I ever tried this crap, and only hope that I got it all off my machine! It doesn't seem to work, and I have never seen such hideous pidgeon English anywhere. I would even recommend FaxSTF before I would look at this steaming pile of mung a second time. (I think that KidsGoGoGo is not a fax program. I don't really know what the heck it is. I do know that I hate it more than I hate SmithMicro, and that's a whole lot of hate. I would also be willing to bet that FaxSTF does a better job filtering Internet content than this piece of [expletive][scatalogical term].!! [alert admin]

FAXstf X Pro 10.5.1 (Mac OS X)
This is crappy software from a crappy company. It is fatally flawed in so many ways that it would take days of analysis and writing to bring them all to light; that energy would be wasted, as the end result is always the same: this software is bad.
The tech support can not be evaluated, because there is none. People revile this software in a manner unseen in any other reviews. Personally, after almost twenty years of using Macintosh based software, and struggling with DoveFax, FaxSTF, Zoom products and more, I would rather crawl from Boston to California and hand someone a piece of paper than use any SmithMicro product.
I lament the passage of Global Village - it proves that it takes more than product excellence to survive. PageSender is a good, much less expensive alternative for those who feel they must fax - and the developer has literally stayed up all night to correct problems that affected only me and three others. Responsiveness, intuitiveness and doing what you say count for a lot. Further, in this day where almost any competent business person, regardless of their distate for Microsoft, is using Office; anyone who thinks a hand marked fax is superior to redline softcopies of documents is a Luddite. I save my clients hundreds of dollars a month by using word document attachments instead of faxes. REVIEW: FaxSTF is buggy, overpriced, inferior to lower priced products, and not supportd by its developer. To paraphrase LeMonde in their review of the Ramones first album: Merde! Je deteste ce sofware! [alert admin]

iWork 2.0 (Mac OS X)
There seems to be a problem in the event info drawer and integration with iCal. I am unable to correct - or sometimes even enter - start and end times. I get fields that are inaccessible, or if they are accessable, changing any data results in an immediate crash. I'd love to love this little guy - I truly hate timeslips and adore the billing templates in this application, but I need to see some stability before I can part with cash. [alert admin]

crashes w/o runnning on my iBook dual USB 700 Panther 10.3.2
the heading says it all. It just won't work for me. Are there known prefPane conflicts or other issues? I haven't been able to use this for the last several iterations. Too bad, I did really, really like it. [alert admin]

LoginManager 6.1 (Mac OS X)
Maybe I'm stupid, or maybe it's broken, but I can not get the useage time for my child to refresh. i.e., it shows that she has been logged in today for 10:55 (since she left it on and was logged in overnight.) I installed and set up LoginManager 6.1, and gave her a 2:30 limit each day. It now tells her that her time is up for today. I (root or admin) tried to reset her time for today, but no go, no how, no way. I have read and re-read the manual, visited the web site, Anyone got this to work? [alert admin]

Oh, Duh! I guess you didn't pick up on the sarcasm. Listen Dobbie - your app sucks and so does your attitude. Now, why don't you stop trolling in the forum, and code like a good little gnome?

Hey Finlay - Why don't you mind your own business? I have read the guidelines, and until MachoMan heavy handidly started throwing slurs around, in the WRONG AREA, I came nowhere near violating them. My first review/comment on Burnout Menu was fair, even handed and constructive. It is unfortunate that no one else has bothered to download and comment on the the next version of the application. I, having found it to be "promising" immediately downloaded,…

actually, I just read about 5 pages of MachoMan X's reviews - Hey dude! Did you ever come across any application that you didn't "love" or didn't "totally rock?" Good lord, how much Prozac are you on?

Hey Macho Man - back at you. I was commenting on software and development, you were commenting on my comment. The place for that was where you find this comment, if you ever get your head far enough out of your rectum to look here. If you track my comments on software you will find that they are fair, and effusive in their praise when the product is praiseworthy. This particular app - regardless of how…

Hi Karl, I'm not keen on any of the display options. Tried them all but just can't adapt. I just want a pull down menu, but its not your job to make that for me. The 0 duration thing seems fixed now. As for ratings, yeah, we could probably go on for days - but here's the policy I go by: There's a lot of stuff I never try - you won't see me commenting at all on…
