BIAS Peak Pro 6.1.1 (Mac OS X)

it works, but .....

Peak 6.1.1 works wonderful on my new MacMini, but I can not use my older Waves plugins again. So all users will be warned, before upgrading, if your audio plugins will work after that. Investigating the Waves homepage told me why my Waves plugins don't work: Peak 6 needs wave shell 6 and the plugins version 6.x. On the other hand, if you use wave shell 5.9.7 or 6.0 you could use older Waves plugins 4.1.2 using Garage Band as host application (or some other applications). Thats very interesting to me! Because I have many older waves plugins I had to pay much money for upgrades. It will be very interesting if my old plugins will work with another host application, e.g. Amadeus Pro or Apple Soundtrack Pro!!!! This combination of Peak and Waves plugins upgrading over the years is too much expensive for most hobbyists! I'm unsure if I would upgrade Peak again in the future....! [alert admin]

Apple Soundtrack 1.0.1 (Mac OS X)

Sorry, no 192khz sampling rate

This seems a wonderful piece of software, many features, very modern design. I have to decide to switch over from Peak to Soundtrack. Disadvantage of Soundtrack: no 192khz sampling rates for recording. Is 96khz enough for archiving "vinyls" and hi end tapes? Thats the big question. HD storage capacity is not the problem ( I use 2 1TB LaCie disks). Is here an expert who can help and answer "the big question"? [alert admin]

Am I missing something?

I use a Raid 5 on a G4 Mac with 8 external SATA drives and a Raid Controller Rocket Raid 1820A (I think RR2220 will also work on a G4 Mac). Please see homepage www.highpoint-tech.com for more Mac products! S.R.

Now Requires a Dongle

That sounds not good at all! I will watch some days for further comments and then I will decide what to do: Peak 5 upgrade or new Apple Soundtrack ( I hope I can use all my Waves plugins!). The only dongle I had to use is many years ago in the >>early<< days of Waves plugins. Thanks to Waves, no more dongles! Why should I use a dongle again? One has to buy a…

MPEG2 audio

BitVice Helper 0.2   -  Encode aif or wav to mp2, mux and build dvd files I used that successfully, no problems! See above description! No need for Apple DVD StudioPro for muxing both files.
