Midnight Mansion 1.0.9 (Mac OS X)
Of all the many, many games I've played over the years this one probably provides the most bang for the buck out there. The premise is simple: you wander around a large map consisting of interconnected rooms looking for treasure and trying not to die. But the execution is remarkably solid, from decent graphics to outstanding sound and especially the superb gameplay. As others have said, it's clear the developers have put a lot of care into the game. And not only is there a huge amount of content included in the game, but there's a level editor too, and a large, active community releasing custom mansions. I can't recommend this game highly enough. And I can't wait for the next version! [alert admin]

ForkLift 1.0 (Mac OS X)
Unfortunately, the only way to pay for ForkLift is to register with PayPal -- you can't even avoid creating a PayPal account by using your credit card. The author informed me that he's looking into other payment methods, but until then I'm hesitating to buy because of all the trouble I've had with PayPal in the past. [alert admin]

Adium X 1.0.4 (Mac OS X)
I've been using Adium about six months and I can't recall having any problems whatsoever. In fact, I've almost taken it for granted since I stopped using iChat--because it has run so flawlessly. (I have not had any of the problems mentioned by other users of the newest version.) It's so good that I actually haven't used iChat AT ALL since switching, even though I like iChat (I only switched because some of my friends are on services that iChat doesn't support). I have no use for some of the features that others complain are lacking, such as video chat. If they're added, great; otherwise if you want the best text chat for the Mac, use Adium. PLUSES: - Supports more services than iChat - Is more configurable than iChat - Rock-solid stability MINUSES: - None? [alert admin]

Xtorrent 1.0 (v38) (Mac OS X)
I paid for this product a while ago. Every few days I *must* download another version. Now the final version is out, and I cannot open it without crashing. I attempt to enter my serial number - it crashes every time. Sick of all the problems and the fact that I can't find any support anywhere - going back to Transmission. [alert admin]

SizzlingKeys 3.0.8 (Mac OS X)
Does what it says without any fuss and seems very stable. No quirky behavior. The collection of shortcuts is extensive and they seem to allow almost any keyboard combination. The floater is attractive & versatile - I can choose to keep it displayed permanently or not which is a nice touch. I've tried at least a dozen iTunes controllers and this is the only one that's stayed on my machine for over a week. I would welcome some sort of optional menu bar control but that doesn't detract from the overall quality of the product. [alert admin]

Because Apple's preference pane doesn't allow you to simulate an arbitrary hot key--which is why I'm investigating one of these programs.

It says maybe you can't see the file because it's hidden.

0.6.1 never crashed on me, not once. Using 0.7 now - haven't used it much, so don't know if it crashes.

I can't figure it out either. And when I try to save, the set doesn't "stick" when I go back into the preference pane. Well, I have emailed the author, hopefully I'll get an answer.

Sorry, I meant to reply to the gentleman below who mentioned Rapidweaver. Versiontracker's forum is not very intuitive to me either :)

I seem to be getting fewer bugs myself. I just used it for a couple hours tonight without any difficulties. As for RapidWeaver, Sandvox beats it IMHO. Granted, I only tried RapidWeaver (today!) for about 1/2 hour but I couldn't even figure out how to type paragraphs rather than line breaks. You can supposedly highlight text and format it as 'paragraph' but I couldn't get it to work. Sandvox defaults to paragraphs when you hit…

Well in the meantime I found one that does work on Intel - QuickTunes. It puts the title and artist in the menu bar, too.

Me neither. Are you using Intel? My guess is it doesn't work on Intel. I emailed the author about it a month ago and have not received any response. It's too bad, because I would really like this program if I could get it to work. I can't find anything else that puts the title into the menu bar.
