EXPStudio Audio Editor Free 4.0.6 (Windows NT, Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows XP, Windows 2000)

Effective for simple changes

I had a sound file that I needed to change sampling rates on. Audacity let me change it to a limit, but not enough. I tried Expstudio, and was able to change the sound as I needed. So for that purpose, it beat Audacity, which I use quite a bit. The UI is a bit cluttered, but it was easy enough for me to find what I needed. It's another good tool to have for sound editing. DropCopy 1.5.2 (Mac OS X)

Great product, but problems sending .webloc files

My son and I have used DropCopy for several years to send files to each other on our LAN, and we love it. It's a great and easy way to share files. I wish there was a PC equivalent that I could use to share files with my Dell. I've rated it at least 4 stars across the board, except for support. However, and this just started recently, when we try to send Safari link files (.webloc), DropCopy starts archiving the file, but never finishes. We're both running version 1.5.3. We have both have "preserve resource forks" disabled, so it shouldn't be archiving the file at all. If I change the filename to remove ".webloc", it transfers successfully. Any other files transfer successfully. The two major changes have been replacing my router (shouldn't cause this behavior), and my son replacing his old TiBook with a new MacBook. Biggest problem: I tried registering on 10base-t's support forum, but it doesn't let me register - it just returns me to the main support forum page. I tried sending 10base-t an email from their web form, but the email doesn't seem to get through. If it does, I haven't received any response. I rated support as two stars, giving them the benefit of the doubt, but the fact is, I am unable to contact them. [alert admin]

djay 1.2 (Mac OS X)

Thank you!!!

My friend is getting married this weekend, and she's on a real low budget - couldn't afford a DJ. She asked me to put together a bunch of songs to play for the reception, and I was just going to use iTunes and let it roll. I looked around for DJ programs, came across djay, and two nights before the event, I played around with it, and it's just what I needed! I'm not a DJ, but this program is so easy to use that I'm confident that it's going to suit her needs seemlessly. I wasn't able to use some of the FairPlay-protected songs from iTMS, but I burned them to a disc, re-ripped them (without much noticable degradation), and I'm ready to go. Karim, this is a great program, and you've helped some minimum-wage kids make a special night even better! Thank you very much! [alert admin]
