SpendThrift 3.0 (Mac OS X)
Hello. Thanks for your patience; I hope that the majority of people are finding success with the software. The day job doesn't leave me a lot of time for it, but I am working on some bug fixes and maybe improvements for a near-term release, including the most commonly reported issues, such as: - Column Size saving fixes - Date/Internationalization Preferences (DD/MM/YY versus MM/DD/YY, for instance) - Internationalized folder names (these are a common cause of failure to start) - Sorting behavior fixes - Import/Export fixes [alert admin]

SpendThrift 3.0 (Mac OS X)
Hello. My apologies to anyone who had trouble with the last version; i certainly hope it was a minority of you. At any rate, the new version is rewritten from the ground up, with a lot of the troublesome stuff excised from it in favor of clean new code. Furthermore, the program automatically reloads the data any time it's ready to save, and if it doesn't check out okay, it won't save it. I welcome your feedback either here or over email. SpendThrift 915a (Mac OS X)
For those of you who use SpendThrift in the UK or Europe, i'm sure that you are probably sick of having the icon for the program be the US dollar sign (with silly little wings). So, i came up with some replacement icons. Now the program icon can be a UK pound sign or a Euro symbol. With silly little wings, of course. Just copy and paste them onto the application, and remove it and re-add it to the Dock if need be. Get the icons at: http://homepage.mac.com/rcolonna/sw/spendthrift_icons.zip [alert admin]

SpendThrift 614a (Mac OS X)
Should work in Jaguar now, too.
I fixed the wee little issue that caused it to crash on startup in Jaguar, and tested it in 10.2.6 and found it to be okay. The behavior of the UI is not terribly consistent in Jaguar, though, so I'm going to have to work on that some. Apart from that, it should also now recognize the settings for the Currency symbol from the System Preferences and therefore be useful to people outside the US and Canada and Australia. Hope it helps... [alert admin]

It looks like I've done something that makes it work only in Panther. I finally got my hands on a Jaguar machine today, and it looks like I've added something that it doesn't like. I have a guess to what that is, and the fix may be as simple as changing the default values of the user preferences. If you're familiar with editing plists, try changing the preference value for the combo box display to FALSE, and then see if it starts. Sorry about that. [alert admin]

Hello. I'm sorry to hear that you're having trouble. I don't have a G5 to test on, unfortunately, but I will do my best to help. The program has been tested on PPC hardware, and is a universal binary. Have you run previous versions of SpendThrift? It's possible (but as unlikely as I could make it) that preference files from previous versions might cause this. If that's not it, try…

Nice at first - then lost all data
Hello. My apologies to both of you who are losing data. I'm not sure what could be causing that. I've been really terrible about keeping up with feedback over the past few months, as my day job has left me too brain-fried to even write shoddy code, and i feel pretty bad about that. Lately, i've resumed development, though, and am working on a ground-up rewrite (maintaining file compatibility). I'm…

You can get them at http://homepage.mac.com/rcolonna/sw/spendthrift_icons.zip They are also now built into the program, under the Preferences dialog.

Thanks for your input. Depending on the font size setting, it's possible that the category menu may not fit the text correctly. I've noticed that before, and haven't been able to get it fixed. Bigger text sizes enabled for the sake of users who have written in to request it. As for how new it is, this version is a week old, but the first public release of SpendThrift was over a year…
