SafariStand 3.1L161 (Mac OS X)

Probs with Gif setting

Just downloaded SafariStand as I was hoping it might stop flashing gifs. For some reason the setting for 'Kill Gif Animation' is greyed out but don't know why (everything else seems ok.) I'm using the Tiger version of SS on 10.4.11 (SafariStand3.1T161). Any suggestions on to how to enable it would be much appreciated... Note; PithHelmet has a similar problem. The box can be checked but it has no effect on the ads :( [alert admin]

>> the gifs kept flashing away no matter what I did >That's a long documented issue with PithHelmet and Safari 3. It's interesting that Camino has a preference which allows users to disable gifs (or load only once) but not Safari. Maybe Apple is so concerned about profits that they'd prefer to leave that option out so that mac users won't miss out on Apple's fancy web site ads each time we visit apple.com. I'd return to Camino…

You wrote: The release notes say: "compatible with Safari 3.1.1 on Mac OS X 10.5". Fair enough, but it does not say, "Incompatible with 10.4.11", or similar, as it should if does not work on Tiger. Although you are right that Leopard and Tiger are different and that I should remember that, it is a fact that many applications still work on both OSs. That said, there are other d/load links on the VT page which…

Even though it says 'compatible with Safari 3.1.1 on Mac OS X 10.5' I think that would still include Tiger. Under operating requirements it says PH is designed to run on 10.5 and 10.4. I also get a message pop up when trying to install the latest version on 10.4.11 telling me that "PH is only compatible with Safari 3.x.x" That's strange because I'm currently using Safari 3.1.1. ANy ideas??
