RadioRocker 1.1.1 (Mac OS X)

Not Streams?

The developer says it does not play "Steams" but some stations I select come back with the message "The stream is unavailable at this time." I also feel that once I double-click a station it should start to play. As it is I then still have to click the PLAY button. Same thing for the "preset Buttons" - when I click one it changes stations but does not start to play until I click the PLAY icon. Also the PLAY icon should change to either a PAUSE or MUTE when a station is playing. Lastly (for now) - The volume slider - I have to keep it almost all the way down to have a volume low enough to listen to. 98% of the slider is wasted - perhaps this needs to be re-adjusted. And yes, I know my overall Mac sound volume will effect this. Overall I'n not had a crash and like tuning in stations in Hawaii in my testing. But improvements are needed. [alert admin]

Adobe Flash Player 9.0.124.0 (Mac OS X)

INTEL (UB) vs PPC versions?

At the Adobe download site they claim to have a version for INTEL (which has UB in the downloaded name) and one for PPC. If they offer a Universal Binary then does anyone know why the PPC version would be needed? thanks [alert admin]

Fast DVD Copy 4.1 (Mac OS X)

Good program and decent support

I've used this since version 1.x and sure, had a few coaster but I would estimate my success rate at 95%. If it fails the most common failure is it never recognizes the content of a commercial DVD and therefore I can not attempt to back it up. I speculate this is some copy protection it cannot fathom. Only rarely if it begins the copy process does it produce a coaster in my many years of use. Unlike a recent fellow's comment: I too had to relicense a copy due to changing Mac logic boards. Using their support site I emailed them my previous KEY, UNLOCKER CODE and LICENSE CODE, a short note explaining. In less than 12 hours I had the new UNLOCKER and after that in 2 minutes I had the new LICENSE. I've done this 3x over the years and if you are clear in your communication to them I believe they respond quickly and professionally. MTR is also a great app I support and use when FDVDC fails. But I sure like the all-in-one process FDVDC offers. And the price - it is high but the payback is fast for preventing damage to your original DVDs. And on occasion they run a discount. I'm hoping for one soon as I've got a 2nd Mac I want to put this great app on in the near future. [alert admin]

Beta in progress

http://www.url-manager.com/version35.html has URLMP 3.5b9 information and a download link for this wanting to test it out. I've used it for a few hours only but no problems. I am glad to see this being worked on. [alert admin]

Picnic 1.0.2 (Mac OS X)

Unstable and interface needs fixing

Note: current version is 1.0.3 - not sure why it shows up on MacUpdater but not VT. In mid-October I purchased a 5-user license. Within days I had emailed the developer the following message. Followed up resending it again several days later. After about 4 weeks I've still heard nothing back. Here is the text of my emails. _____________ Hello - I'm a new registered owner of Picnic 1.0.3 My MAJOR problem is as follows. On my home wired network I have: PowerMac G4 Dual 1.25GHz, 1.25GB RAM and OS X 10.4.10 (with the SOURCE FOLDER) and Mac Pro Dual 2.0, 2GB RAM and OSX 10.4.10 I want to share a large folder that has all my downloaded installers - called "OS X" it is about 34GB in size. The source folder has 509 items in it. I've left both systems running Picnic overnight, checking the folder contents on a regular basis. At one point the MacPro copy of the folder got to 420 items and seems to have stuck. I have rebooted each system and left it for another 12 hours and nothing has changed. When I look at the MacPro Picnic window it shows "OS X (qb@qbg4)" and the spinning icon in the upper right when I look at the Queue. When I look at the G4 it has nothing in the upper right. BOTH Queues are empty. I would have expected to see something in the queues. BOTH Conflict windows are empty. What is going wrong here??? thanks. ________ Since then I have tried a few more times and get frequent spinning-beach balls and have to force quit as the app is "not responding". I cannot imagine this being any more stable on 10.5. Caution: very unstable and unsupported EXPENSIVE application. [alert admin]

Adobe Flash Player 9.0.47.0 (Mac OS X)

QUESTION: Universal Binary offered - why not use for PPCs?

I've downloaded both what Adobe calls the Intel and the PPC versions (as I have both computer styles around. When the Intel expands it produces an installer with "UB" (universal binary) in the name. Question: Doesn't UB imply it works on BOTH Intel and PPC computers? Why would I want to keep both installers around if I can use the UB one for both Intel and PPC Macs? While not listed the UB (Intel) specs most likely require Mac OS X 10.4.x, which all my macs already run. (Why Adobe's Flash download page only gives required specs for the PPC one is a mystery to me...) Thanks qb [alert admin]

Works well

I've had very few complaints about this but what we all need to realize is that each movie studio tweeks their copy protection with each new release to DVD. This company and others need a few weeks to provide an update that allows us to exercise our right to make backups of movies we own. If you have a new release that does not work let them know. I have also never gotten any spam from them. In fact not even a notice when a newer version is ready. Price - I know of only 1 other all-in-one DVD backup application and Copy DVD is half the price of the other. [alert admin]

Router IP Address 1.0 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)

Works as described!

A simple clean program to do something useful. Works EXACTLY as advertised and free. Not that I want to spoil the simplicity but displaying the IP address of the local Mac with the router IP might come in handy... [alert admin]

Appears to work well

For several years I have first tried to use FastDVDCopy to backup video DVDs. At times when that failed I would resort to the multi-step Mactheripper and then DTOX. Beginning with FDVDC 4.0.5 I have been getting errors after compression so I decided to purchase DVD Copy. So far on any disc that FDVDC has errored I have succeeded in using DVD Copy. I like the FDVDC interface better - it auto-recognizes the master DVD for example. But at this point I must say the DVD Copy has not failed, copying 8 of 8 video DVDs I have tried. I plan to notify the developer of some interface suggestions but overall it seems well work the $50 price (half of FDVDC) and no crazy serialization / activation problems. [alert admin]

Update:

I keep having the same song repeat from the beginning on one of the stations. Is this the station or something with RadioRocker?

Why?

Why would anyone assume to do an uninstall first - nothing on their www site warns / tells us to do such... Well written software should not require removing previous versions for a small increment update.

My Duover problems - unresponded to

I know it has been 3+ years since your last comment here but perhaps you will notice and reply. Via your web site support I submitted 2x problems in detail on 17-Mar-2008 and have heard nothing back from you. And like Montlylee from 3+ years ago I find the following message pops up several times in a row on certain parts of your site: Warning: Illegal offset type in /usr/www/users/schvenk/include/it.inc on line 542 Still an ISP…

FruitMenu 3.7b1 buggy!

I installed FM 3.7b1 on my MacPro and began having a series of app crashes and Finder relaunches. I've reported to Unsanity (and I see other reports of this on their blog). So your mileage will vary if you choose to try this version.

I'm not waiting...

It is odd that Unsanity has taken so long. When 10.4 arrived they had some betas available within a few weeks (April-2005 for OS X and the betas). This time we are going on 3 months and NOTHING. As much as I like FruitMenu I'll go back to using Classic Menu - it got a Leopard update quickly. Come on Unsanity...

Closer, but still not product advertised.

Do you see other "Serene Savers" in the Scenes tab of the Options? My understanding is you don't get to download the additional ones until you pay the license and I sort of gather you are still unsing demo mode. I can easily choose any of the savers and tell the Scenes tab to "Show Only..." and it works fine. My one wish would be for the ability to display two different moving savers - one…
