ASM 2.3 (Mac OS X)

Fast update and worth the price

ASM has been in my collection of must-haves for many years. I like the App Switcher aspect but I really depend on the "Classic Window Mode". The developer has delivered a fast clean upgrade. I jumped right on it and even paid the Family License (even thought I don't have one :-). But I do have both a desktop and a laptop and for the cost it is a great helper. Thanks for the fast fixes! And I hope the number of people who feel your paid upgrade is worth the small cost FAR outweighs those who are griping. [alert admin]

WindowShade X 4.3 (Mac OS X)

Essential! But is Unsantiy DOA or just don't care?

I've depended on WindowShade, FruitMenu and because of these APE for many years. I kept quiet when Leopard shipped and these guys took 5 months to even get a beta out. Don't they pay for an Apple Developer subscription so they can download pre-release OS versions to begin developing their products on. I can understand that an OS beta is a shifting collection of code but Unsanity is no different than any other software developer (well, they are scr*wing with the GUI...) Their continued silence about the future 10.6 compatibility of these apps is sad. At least Apple took the liberty of disabling Unsanity products with this new OS installer. Smart! I still recommend this to OS 10.4 and 10.5 users. And FruitMenu. [alert admin]

DownThemAll! 1.0.3 (Mac OS X)

version 1.1.4 - great!

Note: version 1.1.4 is available at the developer's site. What a great download assistant. While I use Safari to purchase mp3s I then use Firefox and DownThemAll to actually download them. Sure wish there was a version for Safari. Fast, stable and easy to use filters. Well worth a donation to support development. [alert admin]

MenuMeters 1.4b1 (Mac OS X)

yes! welcome back to my menu bar

I was eager and upgraded my various computers to 10.6 and even though it only been a few days I've missed MenuMeters. The beta is working fine and I look forward to the final release. All of us that use and enjoy this should remember that while free the hard working programmer does accept donations. I'll be gifting soon as a thanks for the update. [alert admin]

ASM 2.2.12 (Mac OS X)

I miss this in 10.6

I've used ASM for many years and hope it will be updated for 10.6 use. While I like and use the Switcher Menu the most important feature I find it ASM is the ability to turn on "Classic Window" mode so all windows of a particular app come to the front together when any one of them is clicked. Does anyone know of another means of turning the option on - either via command line or another application? thanks [alert admin]

DownThemAll! 1.0.3 (Mac OS X)

Excellent Download assistant!

I often download multiple apps that do similar things - like URL Managers - from Versiontracker. Then I test each one and determine which is my favorite to license. Perviously I had to download them one-at-a-time by CMD-Clicking each one. Now I tell dTa to find them all on the given web page, I confirm it selection and off it goes. Wow! I sure wish this also worked with Safari... [alert admin]

ChangeDesktop 3.0.2 (Mac OS X)

Nicely improved - if odd way to add sources

In my previous "comments" I mentioned what I assumed to be a bug in adding images to the sources. The developer supplied me with the correct steps to keep images added and it all works great now. I really like the "smart" background feature for images smaller than the display. Seems to know exactly what color to select for a background. I'll knock one star off "ease of use" because I really do not find the new method of adding sources any were as simple as the previous version. And my download did not have any documentation that might have explained the steps to add images. Overall a great app that is wonderful to have back in the land of the living - I'll be sending a donation for the hard work the developer has put into it. [alert admin]

ChangeDesktop 3.0.2 (Mac OS X)

Bugs reported

I've waited a long time for a new version and it looks promising. However I cannot get it to retain the images I add myself. Ever time I close the preferences and reopen them they have vanished. I've reported this via the requested sourceforge bug tracker and hope the programmer will have a chance to address the issue. I did delete my previous version, previous Plists, etc and restarted a few times during testing. [alert admin]

WindowShade X 4.2b2 (Mac OS X)

A 2nd 4.2b2

I downloaded and had the same problem (menu bar items missing) with 4.2b2 (20080920) last night. This morning Windowshade offers 4.2b2 again - no indication they changed the revision overnight to (20080921). But I downloaded / installed it suspecting they had been pushed into an update overnight. Seems much more stable now. I do wish they had called it b3 and updated the info so I would not have had to go simply on my suspicion. [alert admin]

FruitMenu 3.7b4 (Mac OS X)

3.7b3 - not b4?

I also seem to have 3.7b3 as the newly released beta - not b4 as shown here. But I want to point out a newly introduced bug (I did so immediately to Unsanity but they never acknowledged my report.) Under all previous versions (and betas) I use the Fruit Menu Items (a folder) to keep aliases to selected folders in my home folder. They have always provided a small arrow to the right of their names in the Apple/Fruit Menu and the hierarchical list of their contents for easy selection. When I updated to b3 these no longer provide the arrow / pop up hierarchy to access. I've repaired permissions / verified my disk and tried replacing a few of these aliases but they still are broken in the Fruit Menu. So a giant step back in the usefulness of this haxie. I may try to revert to the previous beta as I never had a problem with it. [alert admin]

Unsanity's communication policy :-(

What a bunch of jerks they are. I cannot think of any other company that takes this selfish stance. I also dislike how they blast Apple for making changes to the OS from release to release - hey, that's Apple's right.

They could at least give acknowledgement if they are planning to work on their programs for Snow Leopard compatibility. A yes or no and then they can clamp down on further communications.

Incompatible with Snow Leopard | Unresponsive Developer

Unsanity took months to come to grips with Leopard but they did at least post some info soon after Leopard's release. Now they seem to be completely shut down (or shut up) about SL. I too have emailed and gotten no response. I even gifted extra funds to heal their wounds after they got the Leopard versions working. Yet all they can do on their blog is rant about Apple changing their OS. I guess they…

Parallels built in updater

I see the same: the internal Updater does not see the newest update right away. But I do find waiting 24 hours and checking again has worked. Not that such makes up for the unavailability at the time of announcement...

Almost Unusable

If you really tried it on 10.2.7 then YOU failed to notice it is only for 10.4.11 and 10.5.7 and 10.5.8 and should NOT be rating it low based on that mistake. If you meant to type 10.5.7 then that would indicate a problem with your editing and possibly with Safari. :-)

Mine never were in the Title Bar

In beta 4 my tabs never were in the Title Bar. Was this an option in the preferences? Mine never moved from being under the Bookmarks Bar.

give me back my Tabs on Top!

I'm not sure I see any difference... I have Tabs on Top just like in Safari 3.x and 4.x beta versions. Are you saying you no longer have TAB at all or have they moved to the Bottom of the web pages???

Works ggggreeaaatttt for me!

Have you confirmed that you have the needed system requirements? Also - I've found the developer very responsive so visit his site and send him some info about what you are experiencing.

Why?

Why would anyone assume to do an uninstall first - nothing on their www site warns / tells us to do such... Well written software should not require removing previous versions for a small increment update.
