Safari AdBlocker 1.0.1 (Mac OS X)
fixed my problem w/ safari adblock 1.0.1
I installed this version of adblock. Initially it crashed Safari on startup. I used Find File to find and uninstall Safari Adblock. Set Safari to run in 64 bit mode, using the information window/inspector, whatever. Reinstalled and it now works fine. [alert admin]

Library Books 2.6b223 (Mac OS X)
I used Library Books happily for quite a few months. Then one day, the library apparently did something to their website. Library Books stopped working completely. The library is still listed in the Library Books menu, but Library Books no longer works with that Library. There has been no fix forthcoming these many months. I have downloaded several updated versions of LB since, including this one, and tried them, but no luck. So, what about people like us for whom the app simply does not work, no matter what we do? 32- or 64-bit Kernel Startup Mode Selector 1.3.3 (Mac OS X)
FYI Wheel of Trust (WOT) <http://www.mywot.com/>, conjoined to a Firefox add-on, gives this site a very poor rating. Don't know if it's deserved. Just saying. Still, why put out an app that encourages the uninitiated to mess with something that doesn't really need messing with? And who really wants to go messing around with the kernel unless you really, really know what you're doing? Not this cautious old guy. [alert admin]

Ethnic Clock Screensaver 2.6 (Mac OS X)
Wheel of Trust (Firefox add-on) gives this site a very, very low rating on all counts. Download screensavers from this site and you don't know what else you might be downloading. [alert admin]

TapNTune 1.1 (Mac OS X)
I can dowload the dmg and it unzips. But I cannot select or open or move the included file. I mean, my mouse just can't get any purchase on it, like the finder doesn't know it is there. I got this result from Versiontracker last night and again from an alternate download site. [alert admin]

I have paid for and donated to several other itunes control programs. This one does all of the good things and none of the bad things the other programs did. And it is free and better on just about every count. Highly recommended. The developer might want to consider adding a transparency preference for the overlay. But that's a quibble. [alert admin]

WeatherSnitch 1.2.3 (Mac OS X)
weathervane is pretty good, too
WeatherVane sits reliably and neatly in the menu bar and tells you all you need to know. [alert admin]

Well, actually, the app is for 10.6, I think. In 10.6 the comfy little maneuver that we all relied upon, and which you so aptly describe, no longer seems to work. So this is a welcome little addition.

You should probably somehow get WOT to change your rating. As I'm sure that every other Firefox user with the WOT add-on gets the same info when they visit your website. It might just have been one or two people with an ax to grind who gave you the rating. Maybe it is a complete mistake. Anyway, I'm sure you could get a few friends and supporters to start using the WOT…

Developer is NOT being non-responsive
You are absolutely right about how klunky and outdated library software is and how libraries tinker with it to boot. Library Books stopped working for me shortly after I noticed some changes on my library website. Stopped cold. Never worked again. I keep trying new versions, though.

Thank you. It worked!!! I never would have guessed. But isn't that an odd way to access something in a diskimage?

I tried to go back to Safari 2.0.4, but it crashes on launch now, also. I figure Apple will issue a fix soon. I hope they are duly embarrassed.

I think the fellow has gone out of business. If you click on the VersionTracker "developer's site"" link you got a 404 page. I have been using this program for a quite a few years and recently went looking for updates. I was unable to find the program's home page. Too bad. I use the program a lot and will be sad when, in the passage of cybertime, it finally…

I had the same problem. I am running OS 10.4.9 on a Mac Mini. I downloaded it twice. Tried it numerous times. Showed up in activity monitor but *nowhere* else. Didn't appear to be using any CPU time. Had to force quit it from activity monitor.
