You Control: Tunes 1.7 (Mac OS X)

a really outstanding little program

I have paid for and donated to several other itunes control programs. This one does all of the good things and none of the bad things the other programs did. And it is free and better on just about every count. Highly recommended. The developer might want to consider adding a transparency preference for the overlay. But that's a quibble. [alert admin]

WeatherSnitch 1.2.3 (Mac OS X)

weathervane is pretty good, too

WeatherVane sits reliably and neatly in the menu bar and tells you all you need to know. [alert admin]

Mousefinder 1.1 (Mac OS X)

What about MouseLocator?

I've been using Mouse Locator for years. All you need to do is let your mouse sit for a bit and Mouse Locator quietly highlights it and leaves it highlighted until after you move it. No icon in the dock. No hotkeys. No fuss, no bother. Works every time. Your choice of pointer highlighting thingees, too. I have used it happily for years, through many OSX upgrades. Then there's Mousepose from BOINX. This one seems like overkill. And it requires that you think about it too much. And why does it need an icon in the dock? If you are going to offer something like this, shouldn't it be simpler, easier, less conspicuous and more elegant than what is already available? [alert admin]

Scribblet 1.0.4 (Mac OS X)

formatting options???

I could use a program like this. However, there is only one font size (pretty tiny) one page color (white) and one font (arial? or some such) one font color (black) and one font style (regular). You get the idea. I fear I have been spoiled by programs like sidenote which has options galore and is also free. I could just use something simpler than sidenote, but not quite as bare bones as Scribblet. Thank you for your programming efforts, though. [alert admin]

Bean 1.2 (Mac OS X)

This is a nifty little program.

It does what needs to be done. It does it quickly, well and reliably. The interface is really intuitive and there aren't lots of little bugs nibbling around the rough edges of it, as there seem to be with some shareware word processing programs I have tried. Every detail of this useful program has been seen to. This was obviously done with care and intelligence. [alert admin]

WeatherBug Alert 0.9 (Mac OS X)

intereferes with sleep functionality?

I'm using 10.5 on a dual core mac mini. When I use WeatherBug my computer won't go to sleep. I hate that. Otherwise, I like the little program a lot. [alert admin]

MagiCal 1.1r1 (Mac OS X)

Thanks!

I loved your program and missed it when I upgraded to Leopard. Great to have it back. I thought I had lost it forever. [alert admin]

Screen Dimmer 2.2 (Mac OS X)

Good product

This screensaver is very handy for doing time-consuming, CPU busting tasks, like backups and converting video file formats or uploading largish files, etc. It allows you to keep an eye on the process without unneeded wear and tear on your screen or using a screensaver that competes for resources with the task the computer is performing. Media Snap 1.0 (Mac OS X)

Very confusing

I have to agree with those who found this software confusing. First it wouldn't download on Firefox, so I had to switch to Safari. Then, when I got it downloaded and started it, there was precious little in the way of documentation to explain how to proceed. Absolutely minimal GUI. Then when I downloaded a movie and exported it to my desktop, quicktime would not recognize it. I could click on it in the Media Snap download window and I could hear the sound, but that was it. All told, quite a baffling experience. The basics, searching for a video and finding it in the download window are fine. The rest seems to me to need a lot of work. BTW, I have a brand new Mac mini Intel with the latest software. Honest. [alert admin]

Doe not display Forecast or Ext Forecast under Leopard

I'm still running Tiger and I am having the same problem. I tried the standard fix--reentering the cities. No luck.

Safari is breaking my heart

I tried to go back to Safari 2.0.4, but it crashes on launch now, also. I figure Apple will issue a fix soon. I hope they are duly embarrassed.

NO SERIAL NUMBER

I think the fellow has gone out of business. If you click on the VersionTracker "developer's site"" link you got a 404 page. I have been using this program for a quite a few years and recently went looking for updates. I was unable to find the program's home page. Too bad. I use the program a lot and will be sad when, in the passage of cybertime, it finally…

Doesn't work

I had the same problem. I am running OS 10.4.9 on a Mac Mini. I downloaded it twice. Tried it numerous times. Showed up in activity monitor but *nowhere* else. Didn't appear to be using any CPU time. Had to force quit it from activity monitor.

NOT freeware

I think it used to be free. I have a copy of it from last year and there are no nag windows or anything else, not even a link to donate from.

Same here. Tried downlowading multiple times. Could not add extra times. They simply disappeared and I got an error message. I downloaded several copies. Each one failed. DOA.
