Email Merge 2.3.6 (Mac OS X)
Overall, I like the clarity of the interface, the feature set, and the stability of the program.
Instead of including its own SMTP engine like E-mail Commander does, this program uses an email application on your Mac, specified by you. That has its own set of drawbacks, not the least of which is the accumulation of hundreds, potentially thousands, of messages in the Sent folder. Some people want that; it's not how I would choose to do it.
For some reason, they do not support HTML-based messages in Apple Mail. (Even Safari can be used as an HTML publisher via Mail.) So, you have to use Entourage or Outlook Express.
The Sample button in the Import panel produced a little surprise, importing only 235 records from my file. Until I realized that's what it had done, I searched for an EOF character in my data file.
One nice-to-have would be Cmd-Shift-S keyboard equivalent for Save As.

Flock 1.0.8 (Mac OS X)
Based on the review at http://www.mactips.org/archives/2008/02/02/flock-awesome-web-browser/ I downloaded and installed Flock 1.0.8 on a PowerBook G4 running Leopard. On first launch, I opted to import my settings from Firefox. The result was a Flock menu bar, but no windows. Flock would not display a new window, nor would it quit. I forced it to quit, dumped that instance, and re-installed. I checked the Library/Application Support folder, but nothing for Flock. I launched again. This time I got a "script taking a long time to execute" dialog, which I dismissed. Then I got "You're closing 5 tabs" dialog (the Home bookmark has 4 tabs), and when I canceled that dialog, Flock crashed (reported to Apple). Now there's an App Support folder. I trashed that and relaunched, this time opting to import nothing. The browser opened and appears to be functioning OK. [alert admin]

backuplist+ 5.2 (Mac OS X)
I can't get the backuplist+ window to hide. I set the preferences to have it show up as an icon in the menu bar. I quit and relaunched it. But the main window cannot be hidden. With the window active, I option-click the Desktop, and although the backuplist+ window is in the background, it won't hide. I click on the Desktop with Option-Cmd pressed and everything else hides, but not backuplist+. The best I can do is to drag it so it is almost off-screen. Am I missing something in the configuration? gDisk 0.6.1 (Mac OS X)
This was my second attempt at using gDisk. After logging in and sequentially dropping 4 files onto the window, the queue froze, and the window would not accept another drop. Clicked the Refresh button in the window and it wrote the list of files. I switched back to Finder to try dropping a file again, and before I could click on the file, gDisk quit. At my Gmail account, there were files representing the files I had dropped on the window, in the Draft folder, showing paperclips, but no actual enclosure. Nice idea. Too lame. [alert admin]

According to Oracle on Mac, it is possible to install Oracle 10g on Tiger without OSX Server.
It looks to be a non-trivial installation, with a clean two-volume partition. The 120-page Oracle installation manual indicates that neither Oracle nor Apple is "supporting" this installation, but apparently it can be done. And, it's free for personal use.

Is it for developers or end users?
I'm guessing that if you have to ask, it's for developers.

ran it again and left it running... after about 5 minutes, it finished drawing the color in the buttons and displayed the IP addresses. So, I'm thinking it had a little trouble with the complexity of the network.
