Facebook Exporter for iPhoto 1.0.3 (Mac OS X)
absolutely useless for most photos ![]()

great, intuitive interface. good features, ability to tag people in photos, etc... ...and completely useless for tif, raw, or any other common format. it seems to upload the files directly instead of some export to jpg, then upload mechanism. so i guess it's great if your entire library was shot on your iphone or on a lossy format, but if you have anything decent, this won't work with it. Xtorrent Beta 2 (v22) (Mac OS X)
antithetical to the purpose of bittorrent ![]()

any "advanced torrent client" that does not allow for the actual creation of torrents is a waste of time. the developer is doing a disservice to the entire bittorrent network by creating a leeching-only application. there's no point in addressing any of the application's features after that one. It looks like a promising application -- one i will likely use in a year, but this is yet another "beta" released before it's ready. [alert admin]

skEdit 3.5.1 (Mac OS X)

skEdit is the best text editor around. I really like it. The project management, minimal feature set and syntax highlighting features are amazing. Undo is buggy and destructive in 3.5.1/MacOS X 10.4.2 Read that last line until it sinks in. This is totally unusable unless you're backing up every 15 seconds or checking in/out via cvs frequently. iCal, iPod, iDisk syncing, etc. That's the stuff I like. It handles conflicts well, has a nice UI, and good feature set. It also needs more development, like moving to-dos out of folders when filtered, fixing iCal weirdness, and occasional crashes. But really, for $6 this thing is great. [alert admin]

Graffiti In Jena 1.1 (Mac OS X)
If you're not a fan of graf/bombing/writing/etc. it's probably not for you. If you are, this is a nice treat every time you launch your dashboard. It sits right next to my oblique strategies widget. Thanks for making it! [alert admin]

Life Balance 3.2.6 (Mac OS X)
avoid software with slow development ![]()

LifeBalance is a brilliant product at its core, the creators seem to be smart, creative people, and they have created a great tool. That said, if you're considering LifeBalance then you also need to consider the lack of product updates. Consider the lack of desktop integration -- nearly every app for Mac these days offers iCal integration, Address Book lookups for contacts, .Mac syncing, etc. Consider the bulky, confusing UI that hasn't been updated in years. In fact the only thing that does get updated is the Palm client for this, which really is the target audience. So, this may seem like whining about details, but I don't mean it that way. When a user changes his/her entire method of production around an application, that user expects the application to grow with the platform, to include new technologies, etc. LifeBalance doesn't, and it's very disappointing. Maybe people who only use Palm devices find it very useful. If you're using it on a desktop, it's just frustrating. [alert admin]
