Google Desktop Search 1.0.0.0 (Windows NT, Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows XP, Windows 2000)
This software was uninstalled just a few hours after I put it on my computer. Now this program may be just what you're looking for, but here are my criticisms: 1. Search results returned in browser. What does this mean? No interaction with the files it finds. Best you can do is choose "open folder" then find the file again yourself. // 2. No support for removable media. Half of my files are on my external harddrive -- if the program won't index those files then it's worthless to me. [alert admin]

A few months ago I purchased my first DVD burner and proceeded to waste too many hours of my life trolling the Doom9 (doom9.org) fora trying to learn the ins & outs of a very complicated subset of technology. Then I found DVD Shrink. It's dead-simple to use and I really appreciate that. The experts may poo-poo it for lack of features, but if you (like me) are not prepared to invest serious time in learning how to play with the big boys -- if you just want to back up your dvds -- then try this out. And did I mention that it's free? The only negative feature is its total lack of documentation, but as I say, the whole dvd copying procedure is quite intuitive, so that's not a big problem. Highly recommended for the DVD neophyte. [alert admin]

ClipboardController 2 2.1 (Windows NT, Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows XP, Windows 2000)
I've been looking for a good clipboard program so I've tried several. This one is by far my favourite. The program is well designed and easy to use. I really appreciate that it does not hold hostage the default copy and paste keys. One program I used did just that and then when it crashed I could no longer copy or paste! I had to reboot. I also like being able to get rid of font info when I copy and to change upper case / lower case. Highly recommended. [alert admin]
