Accounts 1.5.2 (Mac OS X)
Accounts is great software for the price; certainly worth considering versus the much more expensive commercial QuickBooks or MYOB (or the horrible and not-worth-your-money MyBooks). If only it managed my business checking account (unless I missed something). Great interface, too. My only quirk (besides the business checking account comment, above) is this: When you add a payment or receivable, you have to click in the "Total" field to update the total, otherwise you get an error message that says you have to click in this field. The "Total" field does not update as you enter data. [alert admin]

Adobe Photoshop 7.0.1 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)
Simply the best image app on Earth
I've been with Photoshop since version 3, and I love the program more with every new release. Version 7 is simply superb, and I've probably still only used about 25% of its power! I'm always learning new things. TIP: Subscribe to "Photoshop Tip of the Day" email list. Great daily tips, including keyboard shortcuts. [alert admin]

TTConverter 1.5 (Mac OS 9)
Thanks to the other reviewers/commentators!
I was wondering the same thing as some of the others below...namely, when is an OS X version going to become available? Apparently I can just put TTF files directly in my fonts file under OS X. That's great! So if you have OS X, you don't even need TTConverter! But it'll obviously still be a needed program for those running only OS 9 or below (or for PC users). [alert admin]

ZipIt 2.2.2 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)
I've had no problems with ZipIt, and since upgrading to OS X it's worked even better. No complaints here. Better than Aladdin's DropZip. I now prefer ZipIt to using anything by Aladdin. [alert admin]

Typeset 1.6.2 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)
Typeset is a pretty good program, but not without some glitches (which make the $25 price a bit steep for this shareware program). Only about 30% of my dingbat fonts show up in dingbat form. The other 70% they just show up as Charcoal of Chicago! Also, I've discovered that the Character Set function is not 100% accurate for all fonts. OS X.3 Panther is supposed to come out with a font viewing and management utility--we'll see if that works better. [alert admin]

Entourage Email Archive X 1.6 (Mac OS X)
I've been eyeing the EAX app on my VersionTracker upgrade email for quite a while now. Since I thought I was doing a decent job backing up my Entourage emails the old fashioned way (by backing up the application support folder, where I thought the email messages were stored), but I recently had to get to an old email message--well, the messages were not being backed up! EAX to the rescue. The only thing I wish it did was keep track of your email folders upon launch (or at least scan the disk automatically), rather than having to click on Source Folders. Also, having to click on Destination every time is a pain. But generally this app does well. [alert admin]

I've been using this relatively solid program for several years, but I've been a low-key user (ie, haven't been needing that many features). Lately, however, I've been needing sFTP for one of the website I maintain, and I've had to switch to Fugu. I've heard that Fetch should come out with an sFTP upgrade soon, though. [alert admin]

MyBooks 6.0 (Mac OS X)
I purchased this software on a whim, for a steep $100. What a WASTE OF MONEY. I should've downloaded the demo first, and then I would have quickly and easily determined that this software isn't worth using for a drink coaster. The interface is clunky and unelegant, the performance of the app (at least on the Mac) is abysmal, and it's FULL OF BUGS. I've essentially determined that I can't use it. I spent one full day trying to get the program to do what it said it could do, and what I wanted it to do, to no avail. [alert admin]

Iconographer X 2.4 (Mac OS X)
Iconographer is a well-designed program, and is fairly easy to use. [alert admin]

iBank 1.1.2 (Mac OS X)
Competes with Quicken, for a much lower price ![]()

I've been using iBank for a little over a week now (along with iWork, its sister app), and I am continually amazed by the features. The support is excellent, the interface is very elegant, and the app is easy to use and feature-rich. The only think I miss from Quicken is the ability to reconcile the data directly. iBank does provide "reconciled" and "unreconciled" totals, but perhaps the next release will allow direct reconciling to get one number. If so, that would be great! Highly recommended! [alert admin]
