Apple iTunes 7.4.2 (Mac OS X)
I backed up the old version just in case and sure enough 7.4.2 kills the MakeiPhoneRingtone ringtones! I will stick with 7.4.2 for now, but 7.4.1 is ready if I decide to go back. FYI, I had issues with iTunes 7.4.1 quitting when using the iTunes Store. I turned off Little Snitch 1.2.4 and the issue went away. I will leave it off for now. [alert admin]

I just got the new Aluminum Keyboard and installed the update on my PowerMac G5. Everything works fine and I have not had any problems. I like that there are new keys for controlling music playback in iTunes as well. [alert admin]

Surf Pimp 3.4 (Mac OS X)
This program behaves like a Widget, but it isn't it isn't. It doesn't show up on the Dock either. You have to "quit" it using a small X in the tiny program window. All the choices for surf spots are mainly in Australia. There were less than five beaches in the US listed. Nice idea, but not good for US users. [alert admin]

Apple Battery Update 1.2 (Mac OS X)
I just downloaded and installed the 1.2 Battery update for MacBooks on my Core Duo MacBook. All is well. I have not experienced any of the issues mentioned. Nevertheless, there was not trouble with the download or installation. [alert admin]

Parallels Desktop 2.5 Build 3106.0 (Mac OS X)
I was using the previous gold version and had mostly good luck with the exception of printing via USB or Bonjour. I just couldn't get it to work. I also was surprised to find the lack of CD burning on my MacBook! This new version works MUCH better with Windows XP Home. Somehow during the update, my existing XP VM became unstable and I had to create a new XP VM (Virtual Machine). Once I reinstalled Windows, I reactivated (without issue- a surprise) and now everything works well. CD burning is now supported and it works really well. I downloaded Open Office (free) and I am in search of free virus protection. I have not tried printing, but the speed is just like a real Windows machine. BTW, I purchased an OEM version of Windows XP Home for about $100 online. This is a version that cannot be transferred and is not eligible for upgrade pricing- fine with me! Windows in a window on my Mac running at full speed- good stuff! I have 2 gigs in my MacBook Core Duo. [alert admin]

I am so happy to have this beta! It looks and feels like a real OS X app. and not like a carbon/OS 9 app. I am very impressed. The Bridge is much better and more like Lightroom. The processors are no longer taxed to the limit on my MacBook like they were with CS2 in Rosetta. I was even running with 2 gigs ram and it would ramp up my processors to 120% just with the Bridge! There are lots features- the new Smart Selection tool allows you to paint the areas you want to select. I saw a demo video where the Adobe guy referred to the old Magic Wand as the "Tragic Wand"! I laughed out loud! Thank you Adobe! Good work and you are SO smart to do this. In order to use the beta, the user must own a copy of CS2! This will encourage folks to pony up their money now in order to use the new software. [alert admin]

Adobe DNG Converter & Camera Raw 3.6.0b141 (Mac OS X)
Despite all the grief I give Adobe for not moving faster to a Universal release of PhotoShop, I give them kudos for getting a Camera Raw plug-in that includes the new Rebel XTi out the door sooner than later. I just got the camera and shot in RAW only to discover the 3.5 plug-in wouldn't work! That was yesterday- Today I find a new plug-in and it works just fine. It will expire, but I am sure they will have a final version by then. Thanks! [alert admin]

Phone is GREAT! Update went fine. Battery last all day long. If you have a bad phone take it back. When the battery dies, then start complaining about it.

I did not call anyone an idiot. I simply pointed out that in the description, it tells you that it is for all Macs by saying the download is for PPC as well as Intel Macs. Also, if you purchase the new keyboard- it says that you need the keyboard software update to use it. "Operating System Requirements: This product is designed to run on the following operating systems: Mac OS X 10.4 PPC Mac OS X 10.4…

Hold down the mouse button immediately at start-up to eject the DVD OR use the Eject key on the keyboard. If you have a third party keyboard, use the F12 key. I don't recall the previous versions having this problem. You can also hold down the option button at start-up and it will allow you to choose which drive to start from. Do your best to avoid opening your computer. BTW, there is also…

Call Apple! You may have had a bad battery and this update just made it worse. My battery lasts for 3-4 hours. In the meantime, until you get your new battery- don't do important work without the power cord!

You might want to mount your iDisk and open your Web folder. Try deleting everything in the Sites folder and reloading from iWeb 1.01. It worked for me. Good Luck! Rich

It does fix the problems and it is not a coincidence. The new safari is (V125.12) from V125.11. Something is different and the problems from before have vanished. Say what you want, but it is true. Anyone else???
