MacFreePOPs 2.6 (Mac OS X)

Repeated and frequent password requests since upgrading to 10.6

Hi All I have noticed that since upgrading to Snow Leopard (10.6.x), prior to MacFreePops 2.6 fetching my emails from my two webmail accounts, it requests their passwords. This occurs every few minutes. Despite providing the passwords and adding them to my Keychain, the requests still keep coming. I have learnt that cancelling these requests is the best way to deal with them. Cancelling does not appear to affect MacFreePops ability to fetch my emails. However, the requests are annoying even though they are quickly dealt with. I encountered a similar problem with 10.5.x but the password requests were infrequent. With 10.6.x the requests appear every fetch cycle. REGARDS Phil [alert admin]

iBatt 2.0 (Mac OS X)

iBatt 2.0 works ... sometimes. There maybe a fix!

Hi I have used iBatt for quite some time but using it with my Intel-based MacPook Pro has proven to be a hit & miss affair. The feature I find most useful is the Graph which is permanently selected. When I say 'hit & miss' I mean the iBatt information panel and twin dials always display correctly BUT either the information is missing and/or the dials don't work in about 9 out of 10 launches. Very frustrating. I was miffed to learn there was no ongoing support yet the developer is still asking for payment. Just recently I discovered a pattern to iBatt working only sometimes. If I switch the Graph option off, the next time I launch iBatt the table fills with data and the dials work. It is only then that I activate the Graph. Before I shutdown iBatt I always switch the Graph option off. I am not suggesting that this is the same problem that other users are experiencing but my solution works for me an my MacBook Pro, at least it has yet to fail. I conclude that attempting to launch iBatt, having previously selected the Graph option, somehow prevents the table populating with data and the dials from working. I am sure that this is a software bug which the developer ought to fix if he intends to receive payment for this discontinued, not fully functional product. REGARDS Phil PS - Give my solution a try and see if it works. Let me know the outcome. [alert admin]

Macintosh Explorer X 4.2 (Mac OS X)

Macintosh Explorer 4.2, & Mac OS 10.3.6

I have been using ME for 3 days and many of its functions simply don't work with my version of Mac OS. After reading feedback it seems this product either works well or barely at all. Curious. My copy looks the business but fails to delivery in key areas such as finding files. The filter tool doesn't work well either and its settings tend to be lost after closing and relaunching the application. I have yet to investigate its many other features but I suspect some of them don't work either. Like many who have given feedback before me, I would agree that it's a 'nice try' and Windows Explorer users will find it a breeze to use but Macintosh users might find it a little cumbersome. The fact that it doesn't work well might disuade Mac' users from giving it a try. I paid the subscription fee but feel the product still needs a lot of development. Perhaps it should have been released as a free 'beta' copy first. Sorry, but I cannot recommend it at the moment. Regards Phil (phil_harvey@mac.com) [alert admin]

Promising but needs more development

I have found that most features of XTorrent work well and it is a surprisingly reliable piece of software. However, I wish there was a proper manual or other source of guidance because I have encountered one issue that I have so far not been able to resolve. I would like to download the files to a large capacity external hard disk because my internal hard disk is within 10Gb of being full. But try…
