Woot.com Widget 1.2.5 (Mac OS X)
I get nothing but a blank screen again. I like this Widget but woot.com keeps making changes to their Web site that break it. I'm unable to find an e-mail address for the developer. The one available on apple.com is 5 versions old. I like it because I see it every time I use a Widget and I don't forget to check the Woot Web site. [alert admin]

Snak 5.0 (Mac OS X)
I installed 5.0 last night on a iMac G5 running Tiger and it performed flawlessly. I put it through a heavy trial for several hours and every aspect of it worked without a problem. No crashes or hangs of any kind. In fact, I'd say it's the most trouble free version I've used and I've been a registered user of Snak for almost 4 years. Very nice work. [alert admin]

Ipanema 1.4 (Mac OS X)
I don't have fixed IP addresses (on DSL or cable) so this is a life saver for the remote operation of my machines. Whenever the IP changes (or the service goes down) it notifies me of the change by e-mail. So far it has never crashed or failed. As for CPU cycles used on a G4 or G5 with OS X 10.3.8, it sits at 0% except when it's actually checking the IP address or e-mailing the report. And you can set how often it performs a check in prefs. Ipanema is a utility with a very limited purpose and it performs that function flawlessly for free (although a donation is the only way to turn off a nag screen at start-up). I hope it will still work with Tiger. [alert admin]

Acquisition 116.4 (Mac OS X)
No crashes or hangs. Or any other problems. I like the new inline progress bars. Very slick. [alert admin]

HTML-Optimizer Pro X 3.4.1 (Mac OS X)
Cleaned up the html code from GoLive ![]()
![]()

and reduced the size of the html files by about 33%. My Web site loads and displays a lot faster on all browsers. It's automatic now for me to use this every time I make a change. It will optimize the whole site and from then on you can have it just optimize the pages that changed. Very fast and effortless. [alert admin]

Fast DVD Copy 3.1 (Mac OS X)
I've copied about 60 or more of my DVD movies and only one DVD couldn't be copied and one copy would only play on my computer. The others work great. BUT: 1-I only copy DVDs I purchase NEW at retail stores or online (usually deepdiscountDVD.com or Sam's Club). I still own and possess all of the original DVDs I have copied. 2-I've never tried to copy a rental (and I never purchase used DVD's that might have been rentals) so I don't know if they would work. 3-All 58 or so successful copies made with Fast DVD Copy will play on both of my Sony stand alone DVD players without a problem (different models). NONE of them will play on my Toshiba (older) stand alone or Philips combo (1yr old). All four players have no problem reading the media I use (BeAll) when it's the home movies that I make on iMovie and iDVD. Fortunately, the two Sony players are the ones I use 90% of the time so I'm a happy camper. They will also play on a friend's JVC stand alone player. 4-I do not work for the MPAA or any company that is a member of the MPAA. ;-) This software is simple to use and produces great copies relatively fast on my 20" iMac G5 with SuperDrive. They just have to be played on players that can read them. [alert admin]

Mozilla Firefox 1.0rc1 (Mac OS X)
the page up and page down key scrolling bug is still there. It drives me nuts. This browser is good but I put it in 3rd place behind Safari and Camino for the sites I view. It takes Firefox twice as long to load the default BBC Web site. It still has a long way to go to be my browser of choice. [alert admin]

You Control 1.2.3 (Mac OS X)
I was a user (paid contribution) of the free PTH apps that You Control replaced so I only had to pay $9.95 to upgrade to this one. I probably would not pay $69.95 because I only use 6 of the modules. I would pay for the modules I use though. Maybe a $/module pricing plan would be more equitable and/or enticing. And obviously some of the modules are worth more than others. That said, I am very happy with You Control. All modules work flawlessly on 10.3.4. It's a great time saver for me. I don't understand why people are having trouble getting it to work. The user interface/control panel is kind of confusing at first but it's not a steep learning curve. I especially like the pop-up calendar, clip board, iCal/Address Book module, and the RSS module. There's got to be a problem with your system/installation. Firefox 3.01 and 3.03 run flawlessly on my G5. It idles at 2-8% with Firefox running and multiple windows open.

8 of your last 10 comments on versiontracker were to badmouth this software. We get the idea already. It happens to work great for me. Seems impossible that it could be so bad for you and so good for me. Do you work for the MPAA or something?

He says that all functions are now "available" from the main window, not "displayed" in it. Otherwise I agree that it doesn't seem to be an improvement. I really liked having a more inclusive panel with most functions available to just check or not check. This takes a lot more time to accomplish the same tasks.
