StuffIt Expander 13.0.1 (Mac OS X)
"The Unarchiver" should be able to do most of what you need, but if you really need Stuffit Expander, here's a link to the current direct download (no email address required). http://tinyurl.com/4aow4b [alert admin]

PithHelmet 2.8.3a (Mac OS X)
Still no Safari 3.2 support ...
or any note from the developer at his site regarding whether he's working on a fix, or if/when it will be available. Using glimmerblocker for now, but hope PithHelmet will return. [alert admin]

rooSwitch 1.2 (Mac OS X)
I've only begun to scratch the surface, but am very happy so far. I've definitely wished for something like this before, and I'm glad I found it. [alert admin]

iClip 4 (Mac OS X)
I agree with the negative reviews below. This was a decent product, and would be if the developer would maintain it and fix the bugs. However, I've had the same crash bug since I paid for it a year ago, have contacted the developer several times, and he's shown no real interest in fixing it. Apparently there are other unfixed bugs (no update since the initial 4.0 release). At this point, I've stop using iClip, consider the $29 a loss, and would never buy another product from this developer. [alert admin]

Jon's Phone Tool 3.7.2 (Mac OS X)
Leopard-compatible product (Dialectic) is now released
The developer of JPT has just released his new, Leopard-compatible dialer app - Dialectic: http://www.jonn8.com/dialectic/ . Completely rewritten, lots of new features, launches faster, better sharing of modem with other programs, caller id support, etc. As with any rewrite of this magnitude, there are likely still some bugs, so be sure to try with your configuration before you buy, as the developer (Jon) recommends. But, Jon has a good track record for support - definitely contact him if you run into any problems. I definitely am happy with the new version. [alert admin]

based on some fairly basic tests. would be very useful for podcasts (its primary purpose, i think), or any audio production where there are different audio sources being combined, or multiple participants with different volume levels. [alert admin]

HP Communication Reset 1.1.1 (Mac OS X)
Python scripts work, but not app
Running the python scripts work fine, but running the hpkill or hpcomm apps doesn't seem to do anything. I can get by with the python scripts, but the apps would be more convenient. Any suggestions, or ideas on how to debug this? I'm running 10.4.8. BTW - thanks for doing this. I've got a G85, and have had these problems for years. I've been using the StopHP and StartHP scripts written by someone else for a while, and they work most of the time, but don't always succeed in killing the HP Communications process. Your scripts kill HP Comm more reliably. [alert admin]

actually, even if iphoto 8 uses 130MB, then it should run reasonably on a 512MB machine IF there are no other apps open that use much memory. e.g. no Safari, MS Word/Excel, etc., and the less the better. i've tried it, so this isn't just theorizing. i'm used to using a much faster/newer machine (i.e. i'd notice if a system/app was slow), but maintain a lab of old g4 emacs, most of which have 512MB memory,…

Snail Mail is a great program - I use it regularly for printing envelopes. But, it doesn't do labels, unfortunately. I even contacted the developer, who said he had no plans to add support for labels. So, to the best of my knowledge, there is no decent free application for printing shipping labels, etc. (As others have mentioned, Address Book's capabilities are quite limited).

what's "still a puzzle after all these years" is why you continue to post negative reviews of a product that does exactly what it says, based on: 1. the fact that it has features that you don't need. well, other users do need and use those features. why is that a problem for you? 2. false claims that other product provide the same functionality. NONE of the other products you are touting provide REAL-TIME change…

thanks - I had found that, but didn't realize it included the GUI apps, so I didn't download it. So - I installed 2.5, including Build Applet, and rebuilt the apps using 2.5. These work on my system, and your apps now work also. As I suspect you have now figured out. the apps built by Build Applet are referencing the Python Framework of the same version as Build Applet, and the 2.5 framework wasn't there…

Yes, I was watching the process id in Activity Monitor. PID changed w/scripts, but not with apps. I already had MacPython 2.3 installed (didn't realize it until I just went and looked). Haven't found MacPython 2.5 download anywhere. The binaries produced by using the build applet function work properly. So, I'm good for now, but would be nice to figure out the problem. So - don't know why your apps don't work and mine do -…

let me see - a product does exactly what it says it does, extremely well, and you give it 2 stars and accuse "astroturfing", just because it's not free? for one, Audacity does not do what ASD does - ASD provides >real time< speed and pitch change from both files and CD's, along with many features to make that useful to both practicing musicians, rehearsals, etc. Audacity requires you to open the file, then batch-process…

Unless FUS has been fixed, printing should now hang under either user. Getting printing going again requires either restarting, or sometimes restarting HP Communications will fix it (sometimes need to kill HP Director as…
