RealPlayer 11.1.0 (Mac OS X)

Doesn't work

This doesn't work at all. Whatever radio stream I try to play, a window appears saying some components are needed (text/html), but in the box below that where the necessary components are supposed to be listed and downloadable, it's blank. In the discussion area of the Real site, a staff person posted instructions (from Oct. 2008) for what to do to fix this, but they didn't help. There are fewer and fewer radio streams that are not playable in iTunes. Good thing! [alert admin]

Adobe Reader 9.1.3 (Mac OS X)

Launches much faster than earlier versions

When Adobe Reader launches, it asks if you want it to be the default application for opening PDF files. I've been tempted because it has more capability than Preview, but I've always said no because it takes so long to launch. I just installed ver. 9.1.3 and it launches instantly. This time, I checked yes. [alert admin]

iKey 2.3 (Mac OS X)

Not for 10.4.11?

I'm running 10.4.11 on a PPC machine. The application said there was an update and would I like to download it. I did, and when I tried to launch it, it says that it will not run on my version of the OS. I also tried downloading it from MacUpdate, with the same result. [alert admin]

Today 1.2.1 (Mac OS X)

Almost worth the money

There was a Yahoo Widget that did the same thing (for free!), but it doesn't work with Leopard. It would show items for today AND tomorrow, which was great. The Today developer says they're working on this feature, which MIGHT make it worth the $ [alert admin]

WeatherMenu 3.7.0 (Mac OS X)

Crashes

This new version crashes after just a few seconds. Three times in a row. Good thing I could go back to v. 3.6.6. [alert admin]

Fax1.com has no monthly charge

Fax1.com is an internet fax service that charges 12 cents a page with no monthly charge. No telephone line needed. Mac users have to send the fax thought email, though. But it works. The email message includes the recipient's fax number, and it comes through as a fax.
