MacSOUP 2.6b4 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)

A Decent Newsreader, But I Am Looking For Something Else...

Mac Soup is an adequate newsreader, and it does a decent job. I have used it off and on for about a year, but to be honest with you, I eventually would stop using it due to the fact that it is not the easiest product in the world to use or configure. It is somewhat confusing. That being said, I am looking for a word that means "The act or an instance of speaking the same words simultaneously by two or more speakers." Wait a second!...I know the word I am looking for.... U-N-I-S-O-N [alert admin]

DVDAttache 1.3 (Mac OS X)

Free and Fabulous!

I want to thank the developer for this great application. I was able to catalog all my DVD's smoothlessly, painlessly, and without a hitch. The user interface is very self explanatory, it also gives a lot of valuable information about the movies in your collection as well. It is a well thought out piece of software and I absolutely love it, since some members of my family purchase DVD's like candy. Another thing that I love is the fact that it is free. Of course, after downloading the software, I went to check it out further, and I noticed that while this is freeware, the developer will take donations, which I will send to him gladly. This is a quality piece of software, free or not, so I want to encourage even further development of this software, and any future programs that are in the works. Excellent software, I love it!! Unison 1.0.1 (Mac OS X)

For Myself, This is THE newsreader...

Speaking only for myself, I found this newsreader quite by accident, and am glad I did. Yes, I have tried both the free and shareware products out there, but for me, and for the price, Unison is my newsreader of choice. My criteria for appreciating a piece of software may be different from "power users" who need this or need that, but I am totally sold on Unison. Once you open the program, it pretty much runs itself. The look and feel of the newreader is also very pleasant, and attractive to the eye. I can do everything I need to do with this program, and it has a nice option of being able to see messages, files, images, or music. It is simply the easiest newsreader to use, and is well supported by Panic. Panic is a new company, but I see them doing many fine things in the future. After using this program for approximately one hour, I decided to plunk down the money for it, and I consider it money well spent. I really like the look and feel of this application, and customer support is top notch. While I enjoy finding free programs just as much as anyone, I also enjoy paying for a nice looking product that does what it says, and encouraging the developers who make such fine products as Unison. Mac Sweeper 1.8 (Mac OS X)

The old adage "You Get What You Pay For" Applies Here.....

I like VT, and I like the variety of software that is available for free, and pay. I saw this system utility and thought I would give it a try. Installed easily...on startup however, I got a script error message, and after running it, the party was just getting started. When I rebooted my Mac, I noticed right off the bat that my Finder Application was not running. I also noticed that I could not empty my Trash. When attempting to run some applications, they simply would not run...shall I continue?. Luckily, I have my software and serial numbers backed up for just such an emergency. Personally, I will never try using this application again simply for the headaches it caused. Yes, it may be free, but free comes at a price. If I had some advice to give, it would be to avoid this "software" like the plague. [alert admin]

Eudora X 6.0 (Mac OS X)

Eudora Works Just Fine In Panther For Me...

I have used Eudora in the past, when I was a PC user....I think back to those days now, and shudder.... I also have purchased this email application, and it had, for the most part, been sitting in my applications folder untouched. It was untouched simply for the fact that I was using the built in Mail application, which in my opinion is no where near as fast and efficient as Eudora. While upgrading to Panther, I wanted to see how well my installed applications were working. I ran Eudora, and it has been solid, reliable and quick on my flat panel, G4 imac. What I really like about Eudora is the fact that you can tweak it to your heart's desire, and the Bayesian filtering in this client puts Apple Mail to shame. Spamfire is now history for me, as the filter with Eudora catches everything. As was stated in an earlier reveiw, you must let it know what is junk to you, and what isn't. After a time, this filter becomes extremely accurate. Another thing I like is the fact that it is more aesthetically pleasing to the eye. It works on all my email accounts, and trust me, I have tons!. Now, with the filter in place, I no longer have to use Spamfire before reading my mail. The only thing in my inbox these days is the mail I ask for. I am very pleased and content with this version of Eudora and it is my default email reader. It costs a bit, but the features are worth it in my estimation. [alert admin]

SafeShred 2.1.9 (Mac OS X)

It works well, and customer support is the best I have found..

I have been using Codetek products for the past couple of years, and have found them to work as promised, the user interface is easy to follow, and what I have been most impressed with is the customer support and service I have gotten any time I have needed assistance. Never, and I mean never, have I ever found a company that that will go out of their way as much as this one has. I recently had an instance where I needed some information regarding registration issues after installing some software. I got a quick reply back, giving me the information I needed, and more. It seems I had FORGOTTEN about purchasing this same piece of software a year or so back, and I was informed that my credit card would be issued a credit..that was good news of course, but the best news was that I had purchased their suite of products also, and would not be charged for my most recent purchase. I know many of you might laugh at someone who can "forget" what they purchased, and yes, I felt like an idiot, but the point I am trying to make is that this company could have gone ahead and charged me again, and I would never have known the difference. It happens all the time. In this age of automated this, and automated that, it is refreshing to find a company that will respond to issues, correct them, and do the RIGHT thing. I have used other products for my online safety, but after this incident, I am going to look seriously at using Codetek products for all my future needs. I figure if they are this honest and upfront about billing issues, then they are going to make the best products they know how. I appreciate their ethics. [alert admin]

MacWasher 1.0 (Mac OS X)

I Forgot To Rate.... :)

As you can tell from my usage tip, I have used Webroot products before. Mac Washer for OSX does all that it claims, despite the small gitch that is in version 1. Take into consideration that this is the first version of this software for OS X, Webroot is aware of this problem, and will be issuing a fix very shortly. It is a solid, sturdy piece of software that does as advertised. I am rating favorably because it performs as promised. [alert admin]

MacWasher 1.0 (Mac OS X)

Do This To Get Macwasher X To Work....

First of all, I want to say that I have enjoyed using many of Webroot's programs prior to my becoming a Mac fanatic, and when I saw that they had a version out for OS X I too, had problems using this version. I was amazed that it did not work. My installed version would go through the motions of cleaning, but after a bit, would unexpectedly quit. Here is how to resolve that problem: 1. Open Mac Washer Application. 2. On left hand side click "Applications" 3. Once open, you will see some Microsoft products listed that are checked to be cleaned. Please uncheck those now. 4.Close Mac Washer X, reboot system, and clean your system. I took it upon myself to do some investigating before slamming Webroot for a crappy piece of software, and as I said earlier, I have had nothing but good luck, and customer service from them in the past. This time was no different. I took the time to call technical support via a 1-800 number, and in doing so, I explained what was going on with the new software. Webroot is very much aware of the problem and are going to issue a fix for this bug for all registered users. I am not a paid spokesperson for Webroot software, just a satisfied customer. Shareware vs Donateware

This comment was very truthful, and to the point. I too, am tired of everyone wanting something for nothing, and in this day and time, companies that are quick to take your hard earned money, and yet balk at providing decent service. I do have one small comment, and that is you need to check your spelling in your comment section. I think the word you were looking for was PALTRY and not…
