EarthDesk 4.0.3 (Mac OS X)

Why buy Earthdesk???

I've been a registered user of Earthdesk since v2.6 and upgraded at v3.0. However, I cannot justify to myself buying an upgrade to 4.0 when I am not getting any more functionality. So I have sadly switched over to OSXPlanet, and I haven't regretted it at all. In fact, it's very good, and I haven't missed Earthdesk at all. [alert admin]

RealPlayer 10.0.0 (Mac OS X)

Has this software been tested?

Stick with version 9 or RealOne. i can't get ReaPlayer to stream BBC News or Radio as well as play clips from Amazon's website. What gives? RealOne could do it - why not 10? [alert admin]

DD Tournament Poker 1.0 (Mac OS X)

Highly recommended

I wasn't expecting to find a replacement for iPoker which I had actually enjoyed playing until recently but found its AI extremely lacking. So it was a pleasant surprise when I downloaded it that DD plays an excellent game. OK, it needs Java but it doesn't play or run very slowly on my machine (PB 17" 1.33GHz), but I certainly think it beats iPoker, and would highly recommend it. I purchased it after playing the demo once. [alert admin]

iPoker 3.2.3 (Mac OS X)

You should also try...

I very much enjoyed version 2, but found version 3's AI to be severely lacking. It was too easy for many of the computer players to go 'all in' during Texas Hold 'Em. If you want a decent competitive version of No Limit Texas Hold 'Em, then try DD Tournament Poker: No Limit Texas Hold'em at http://games.donohoedigital.com/poker I'm not connected in any way except a very satisfied purchaser. There's a trial/demo version that can be downloaded. [alert admin]

iPoker 2.2 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)

Superb Game. Best of its type....

I can't recommend this game highly enough. I am not really a poker player or even a gambler, but I have become interested in Texas Hold 'Em which is being shown on some satellite channels in the UK. The author has implemented the game and the whole playing experience extremely well, making it addictive to play and a joy to be part of the game. I do find the computer players to be a little easy to beat once you get used to the way they play, but that is the only criticism. I am currently previewing iPoker 3.0 and I'm looking forward to its official release - the gameplay is tighter and the players much tougher to fleece all their chips! It'll be worth the $5 upgrade! Unbelievable

There's no way that I am paying $20 for this version. Having been fairly satisfied with the 1.x versions, I don't see any reason to pay full whack for something that 1.x can do fairly well. Yazsoft should reconsider or suddenly find their customer base non-existent [alert admin]

Thoth 1.6.0 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)

I registered this…

pretty much immediately after playing around with it for 30 minutes. I use it mainly for downloading and extracting binary newsgroups (Seinfeld!) and it works very well indeed. It seems to hog CPU a little bit, but I do only have a G3/400 graphite iMac DVSE. I do still retain MacSOUP as my primary newsreader mainly because of its interface and graphical thread display which is indispensable. Thoth is throughly recommended. [alert admin]

Audio Hijack 1.0 (Mac OS X)

Absolutely fantastic. To…

be able to record streaming audio and soundtracks off DVDs, it's been a feature I have long been looking for. Plus the fact the interface is clean, the application is stable, and I've found no problems with it. I registered within 15 minutes of using it. It's that good. [alert admin]
