Skim 1.1.2 (Mac OS X)

Problem with vertical text alignment

With New Text Notes and Skim v1.1.2 there seems to have a problem with the vertical alignment of characters after the seventh character of any note. The vertical word alignment is slightly lower from the eight character onwards. I hadn't noticed this with earlier Skim versions. [alert admin]

SOHO Labels 3.0.1 (Mac OS X)

Needs more work...

I used version 2.5 for over a year and this was just about OK. However, version 3.0.1 is very buggy. The Chronos support site looks impressive but offers nothing - not even a reply! Some of the features I requested over a year ago (like FULL Royal Mail barcodes) are now in the product Mail Factory. Maybe SOHO Labels version 4 will fix things? [alert admin]

Safari 3.0.3

For me there is no auto complete with the (beta) Safari 3.0.3 and Inquisitor v44. If I go back to v43, all is well. Have tried the install of v44 a few times with no luck. Note that the Safari Preferences panel recognizes v44 OK. [alert admin]

Lostify 0.5 (Mac OS X)

Tagging large files

This is a great app which is very easy to use. The only limitation I have found is trying to tag large (HD) files. I tried a 7Gb mp4 file and got a very clear and amusing warning message. [alert admin]

Aurora doesn't startup specified EyeTV channel

I am using a Miglia TV Mini which is one of the third party products that appear on the EyeTV website. It uses EyeTV 2.3.3b15 software (currently). The EyeTV software is set up to receive DVB-T/Freeview in the UK. The problem for me is that whenever Aurora fires up an EyeTV channel it always defaults to the first channel in the EyeTV list and not the channel I specify. [alert admin]

McAfee VirusScan 8.5 (build 219) (Mac OS X)

Increased G5 fan activity

Normally I use Virex v7.2. Switching to v8.5 caused the G5 processors to work much harder - all the time. Using Backup v3 to do a full backup to an external firewire disk became painfully slow. The activity monitor indicated a lot of virus checking activity. I've gone back to v7.2 and the G5 has calmed down. G5 dual 2.0; OS X 10.4.7; 8GB Ram [alert admin]

RealPlayer 10.1 (build 412) (Mac OS X)

Downloading from the London mirror

If you download from the London Mirror you get an old version. My email to Real (13 May 2006): "I think there is something wrong with your mirroring software. I note that RealPlayer 10.1 (build 412) came out today. From London it is 8.1MB (an old version). From Seattle it is 11.6MB (the correct new version." Response (13 May 2006): "I apologize that I have been unable to resolve this issue. Your case is being escalated to our Level 2 e-mail team. You will receive a response as soon as possible."
