Macally USB Mouse/Trackball 3.3 (Mac OS 9)

freezes up on OS 9.2.1 no matter what extensions i start up with. unplugging/replugging the USB fixes the problem, but it's starting to drive me nuts. Using the Optical trackball which is my favorite and i don't want to part with it! [alert admin]
