Apple Java for OS X 10.4 Release 8 (Mac OS X)
After upgrading to Java release 8, the Javascript toggle function wouldn't work in Camino. Couldn't revert to previous version, even an attempt to reinstall release 7 with Pacifist failed. Thankfully I had made a system backup the day before, running with release 7. Camino works again; what else had been or could have been broken by version 8 I don't know and frankly, I'm not keen to find out. (OS 10.4.11, Camino 1.6.6) [alert admin]

Burn 1.72u (Mac OS X)
Good app, needs some reworking though 
Other than LiquidCD or Toast prior to version 6, Burn is capable of burning Double Layer (+DL) DVDs which are playable even in older standalone DVD players. The not too user friendly interface needs some reworking, though. Burning video DVDs should appear as one of the main menu choices/buttons instead of being hidden deep inside the "Data" menu. Or even better, it should replace the actual "Video" menu, whose muxing features etc. should be integrated as a submenu to the DVD burning menu. And PLEASE move the "create a fully compatible DVD-video disk" checkbox from the app preferences to the apps forefront window. (Why isn't this set as default anyway?) Also, is it really nescessary to create an image/iso file before burning to disk? Why not make this an optional feature, if possible? [alert admin]

does this burn dvd+r DOUBLE layer or dvd-r DUAL layer disks? or both? btw i'd suggest to move the "Create a fully compatible DVD-video disk" checkbox from its hidden preferences menu to the application's front window when "Data > DVD-Video" or "Video > DVD" is selected. the gui could need some reworking anyway, but i consider this the most important issue. LiquidCD 2.0 (Mac OS X)
can't burn dvds for standalone players
sounds promising, but other than burn 1.7 or toast 5.x (!) liquidcd can't burn dvds which play in my standalone dvd-player, no matter which burning mode i use. liquidcd developers actually seem to be aware of this problem, judging from their forum, but a resolution is not in sight. pity. NeoOffice 2.2.3 patch 4 (Mac OS X)
Helvetica font displayed incorrectly in NO patch 4 version
After upgrading to patch 4, all my NeoOffice documents containing the Helvetica font (I use a Helvetica postscript font stored in the system font folder for my prepress work) were displayed and printed incorrectly, looking more like chinese or whatever, thus being unusable. All other fonts seemed to work. Swapping the Helvetica postscript with the default truetype dfont didn't seem to help. But, after reverting back to NeoOffice patch 3 version from a backup hd, documents containing Helvetica displayed and printed correctly again. So, use with care. [alert admin]

Lineform 1.3.1 (Mac OS X)
QuickTime 7 is required both for versions 1.2 or 1.3 otherwise Lineform will crash even before the splash screen shows up (see my earlier post). This info should be added to the requirements in the product description! Nonetheless, regards to Lineform's support crew who helped addressing this problem very quickly. [alert admin]

NetBarrier X4 10.4.2 (Mac OS X)
After installing NetBarrier, no connection to the internet was possible after returning from sleep mode. had to restart each time to connect again. deinstalled NB with their deinstaller, voila - internet connection is possible again after returning from sleep mode. all this for $72 ? (system info: os x 10.3.9 on g4 867; dsl internet connect.) [alert admin]

Lineform 1.3 (Mac OS X)
tried to run trial versions 1.3 and 1.2 without success, linedraw crashes instantly on startup, even with all background apps switched off. os 10.3.9 and quicktime 6.5 on g4 867. what's wrong? [alert admin]
