Camino 1.0b2 (Mac OS X)
...and Camino is the browser I ALWAYS come back to! I can't always even put my finger on it, but there's something about how incredibly simple but infinitely functional Camino continues to be. I try new apps on my Mac almost daily, always looking for something better, something smarter, something easier, and browsers are no exception. In one of my forays into Firefox, I finally noticed something beyond a general feeling of discomfort while trying to do my usual prowl for information. I attempted to fill out a form, and as usual, tabbed my way through the fields. Irritatingly, the cursor/highlight skipped over the drop-down menus and a)I had to backtrack when I put a W in the zip field; b)I had to waste time grabbing my mouse to both make selections in all menus and click on the "Ok" or "Submit" button at the bottom. I'm very accustomed to the speed with which I can tab through a form like that, and it was NOT pleasing to be held up. I exited immediately, not likely to return! Additionally, the design of the pull-down menus in a form in Firefox was very ugly and Windows-like. Camino has nice, smooth, rounded menus that fit so nicely within any and all web pages and blend well with OSX. One more comparison: Safari. I gave it a fair chance because it's the Apple browser of choice these days. But I hate it!!! It is so bulky and ugly I can't even STAND it. I know that brushed aluminum look is all the OSX rage, but it takes up tons of space and clutters my viewing to have it on all four sides. I love how I don't even notice Camino when I'm using it, my window can go all the way to the edges but I still have functionality between the scroll bar and the info at the bottom. Wahoo! YAY CAMINO!!! P.S. It NEVER crashes. [alert admin]

iFindSpace 1.0.1 (Mac OS X)
I'd like to try it but I can't!
I clicked on the VT link and then tried going directly to the developer's site to no avail. I get a screen of jibberish that does nothing. Help! I'm intrigued by this program! [alert admin]

PuzzleGetter 0.8 (Mac OS X)
I've used this app for over a year and a half, and its ratio of usefulness and satisfaction to simplicity is absolutely through the roof!! It that saves me a ton of time waiting for web pages to load, slower downloads, often needing to rename files in more detail, or the worst, having to print->save as .pdf which is REALLY tedious! PuzzleGetter has turned a casual interest in solving crossword puzzles to exercise my brain into a full-time hobby that I maintain daily!! (My boyfriend thinks I'm crazy). Despite the ingeniousness of the initial idea, however, the program is long due for an update. It's probably optimistic to imagine that the developer has been working on an update for over two years, but I like my mom's motto--you never know what you might get if you don't ask! So, as a devoted puzzler, here's a couple of suggestions that would greatly improve functionality and appeal. First of all, I've found five different daily/weekly crosswords out on the Web that I enjoy doing in addition to the ones I get from PuzzleGetter, but I have to download them from their individual sites if I want to save them for later instead of doing them in my browser. It would be awesome if they could be added to the application, just say the word and I'll give out a list! Perhaps due to the lengthy dry spell since any updates, puzzles from The National Post button no longer captures a file format MacXWord can recognize and I have yet to find another way to open them. Last but not least, the ultra-simple interface has so little information about the puzzles it can be hard to remember if any of them are cryptics (I think the Sunday Cape Cod is but I rarely remember to check on a Sunday), which I hate doing, and a difficulty rating wouldn't hurt, and maybe an index of which puzzles are posted on more than one website. I've started a puzzle that seemed awfully easy and realized I'd done it before without knowing where! [alert admin]

MainMenu 0.2.7 (Mac OS X)
I love this program, so much more thorough than CacheX but as of last night's Tiger upgrade it looks like I'll have to find something else for a while... I hope Tiger compatibility is in future plans, it'd be a shame to see this one go to waste. [alert admin]
