Yes, I remember the old Global Fax software and it WAS functional and a shame they let it go. I've used FAXstf ever since and while I never loved it it always worked for me. As OSX moved through later releases SmithMicro has barely kept up and at 10.5.5 they lost it. FAXstf broke for me and PageSender works. It's too bad Apple hasn't given more thought to fax software for business use (I use it in my business very day). The apple software is barely functional: yes it sends faxes but it tracks the history poorly and the ability to implement custom cover pages or various identities must be there somewhere but it beats me. Not very "Mac like", either that or just dumbed down like the address book. Anyway, FAXstf ceased working today and I had to find a way to send faxes and PageSender not only works but works well, certainly as well as FAXstf, and for $10 less. I would like to see them spend some more time on this program. It shouldn't be that hard to turn it into the best Fax application for the Mac. At least SmileOnMyMac is a true Mac developer. Today they saved my butt so they get 4 stars! [alert admin]

FAXstf Pro 10.9 (Mac OS X)
I've used FAXstf for years with good success. It was never a great program but it was better than Apple's weak Fax capabilities and what little other competition there was. It was always a little persnickety but I could always get it to work. Fortunately I never had to call or ask for support. I finally did the upgrade to OSX10.5.5 (all the way from 10.4.9) and one of the few broken apps was FAXstf 10.8. I had to purchase the upgrade to 10.9 for supposed OSX10.5.5 compatibility. I depend on faxes for my business and spent pretty much a full day trying to get it to work properly with no success. This application puts files everywhere. Half of them invisible. Almost impossible to remove or find everything it installs (in true Windows fashion). Tech support barely read my emails (replied with canned responses for morons) and I can't afford three or four days of email back-and-forth while I beta test their product. This is a buggy and barely functional application that I would say is barely supported by Smith Micro (hell, you have to TRY to find it on their website). Make sure, if you're determined to own it, to download their fixes and utilities (FaxPrint Installer and Fax Magic) that are required to allow you to spend at least a few hours of entertaining troubleshooting. Bummer. So, I finally gave up and started looking for an alternative. Last time I had checked there was nothing comparable. This time I found PageSender and it saved my butt. Installed in a snap with minimal intrusion. It just works, like a good Mac app should. I was even able to salvage, with some work, my cover pages. I was up and running in a fraction of the time it took me to unsuccessfully troubleshoot FAXstf. All I can say is good riddance to SmithMicro and I'm headed right over to PageSender to give them 4 stars. Also, PageSender is $10 cheaper! [alert admin]

AASync 2.1.2 (Mac OS X)
Works reliably, author was very responsive. Overall great program! ![]()

I was looking everywhere for a way to synchronize a 4 GB work folder with my online FTP storage. I wanted the sync to happen automatically and unattended at night. AASynch is the only program I found that does this reliably. Though not the most polished UI, it works without too much fiddling around under the hood. When I did run into a problem and contacted the author, his reply was immediate and he stayed with it until we got it resolved. I would call that first class support! Good job. This is what shareware is about. [alert admin]

Move Items X 1.6.1 (Mac OS X)
Great idea but just doesn't work for me: what I really need is the Move Item to New Folder to work and it doesn't. Contacted the author and we exchanged some email then no response at all, doesn't look good! Needs some work. [alert admin]

Too bad, this is a GREAT idea. Uploads work fine but downloads crash the app every time. Let us know when it's fixed. Five stars for the concept but it doesn't work yet. [alert admin]
