Apple iTunes 9.0.2 (Mac OS X)
iTunes 9.02 freezes whenever I have my Nano mounted. Messed with it for a few days & got nowhere. Finally Time-Machined my way back to iTunes 9.01 and everything is fine again. So... although iTunes 9.02 is no good for me Time Machine gets 5 stars. [alert admin]

MainMenu 2.0.2 (Mac OS X)
MainMenu was free for several years; now it isn't. It was a great little app when it was free and it's just as great now that it's $20. Santas made it clear that MainMenu wasn't going to be free forever. I don't expect anyone to work for me for free. Nor do I want anyone to work for me for free. I am grateful to the new developer for buying MainMenu and keeping it in development. [alert admin]

Blizzard StarCraft 1.16.1 (Mac OS X)
This is why Blizzard is still the best ![]()

It's perfect on an Intel iMac and a G4 iBook. Thanks, Blizzard, for hanging on to a good thing. Also, I followed John's advice, all's well: "Put the "Brood War Archive" file (or the Starcraft Archive" file if you don't own the Brood War expansion) from the CD into the Starcraft Files folder (which is inside the Starcraft Folder), not the Starcraft Folder." Dropbox 0.6.556 (Mac OS X)
I've only had it for a week or so. Eventually I may find something wrong with it. But so far it seamlessly syncs computers, shares files between multiple users on different platforms, and other cool things. For instance, the way it instantly creates photo galleries. Add a photo, remove a photo? Instantly it updates your online gallery. You can even host an entire website (static html).
And it does all of this without behaving as an app. As an app it's pretty much invisible to you. You just think of it as a folder of your own files to manipulate within your finder.
It's easy on system resources, too.
Photo Gallery Index Trick
If you have multiple galleries (folders) inside your photos folder, each with it's own web address, you might try this:
- Put all your picture folders inside another folder and call it 'gallery index' or something.
- Now put 'gallery index' inside your Photos folder.
You now have a web page that displays an index of your galleries, each with its own thumbnail link. Sweet.
Lots of other Dropbox tricks & uses to be discovered I am sure.
The only caveat I have one week in is that Dropbox updates itself automatically as new versions are released. I don't believe that this is a preference that can be turned off. (Doesn't bother me, though.)

OnyX 2.0.5 (Mac OS X)
Used Onyx for years (and a few others). Onyx is always updated quickly and it's the one I trust. [alert admin]

CuteClips 3.0.7 (Mac OS X)
I've used CuteClips for I-dunno-how-long (2-3 years). I tried a few other multi-clipboards and CC is best for me. Simple, intuitive interface, regular updates. Especially useful to me is the option of pasting formatted text as plain text. My only nit had been that it was occasionally s-l-o-w to scroll when you brought up the "chooser" interface. Haven't had that problem lately so I assume it's been fixed. [alert admin]

LimeWire 5.1.2 (Mac OS X)
I ignored the negative reviews and forged ahead with the upgrade to 5.1.2. Found the interface and functions changed drastically enough that it isn't really Limewire anymore; it's something else. Program crashed twice on me so I wasn't able to try it. I restored the fine 4.18.8 from Time Machine. I appreciate the effort by the LimeWire team on 5.1 but I'm sticking with the older version. OmniWeb 5.5.1 (Mac OS X)
OmniWeb is $9.95 now through November
Could never quite convince myself to pay $30, but for $10 I bought it without deliberation. [alert admin]

Love the new interface. Didn't think MM could get much better, but it got a lot better. Thank you, Santa. [alert admin]

To Ron (rwebber6828): You wrote: "I am also a "loyal user" who has paid for every upgrade of Accordance since version 3." Then you wrote: "You can still use version 6 (which was never "clunky"), although you will miss out on some tremendous features that we implemented in versions 7 and 8." So which are you? A loyal user or one of the developers?

"I was told to not put spaces in the file names and to keep the names short, and to zip them and on and on." "Or" not "and." "Snip" not "zip." Either do not use spaces OR snip the URL. Either keep your file names short OR snip them. In other words, just snip them and everything will be work. You're blaming FileChute for the limitations of the web and email, even though the app solves both…

However, as the developer says, Yemuzip does not PERFORM unzipping. And why should it? Double-clicking is easier. Nothing weird about that.
