KMremoteControl 1.52 (Mac OS X)
How is one expected to actually try and see if something is worth paying for with only a 15 min trial? 15 days I can understand, but 15 minutes? Especially with a utility like this. Does the developer actually think that one can have a useful experience when you go through all of that to install this, get it working and then you use it a couple of times, get up from your desk and it's already expired? Then you relaunch it again, on both computers, take a phone call, go to use it and it times out a minute later. Obnoxious. [alert admin]

xTime Project Universal 3.5.1 (Mac OS X)
I have been trying out the demo of xTime and imported a relatively simple ms project file with 131 tasks. It took 30+ minutes to import (something that PMX and iTaskX can do in 20 seconds) and it consumed 100% of my cpu and over 500mb of RAM to do this. Further, it makes the year 2020 for any ms project file I import. Switching views is just plain painful and consumes 100% of my cpu. The program does look great, but the developers need to work on the performance. [alert admin]

Groupcal 2.5b (Mac OS X)
You should avoid installing 2.5b on a machine running Tiger 10.4.4 It will destroy your iCal installation requring all kinds of steps to remove and get iCal working correctly again. [alert admin]

Crm4Mac 2.1 (Mac OS X)
The idea seems good, I like the screenshots, but it needs to work. Everytime I start this program I get an alert that says "Application cannot start. An internal error has occurred during the startup." I got this alert with the previous version and with this 2.1b1 version I have emailed the developer but haven't received a response. [alert admin]

Great Start, looking forward to updates ![]()

I can confirm that 1.0.1 does indeed launch now. This is a good start for a freehand drawing program. All of the actions are controlled by the menu, which is awkward when using with a tablet (I prefer to be able to select the tools using the pen rather then a combination of keyboard/pen since the tablet is usually in front of my keyboard.) So, It definitely needs a tool palette. The lack of a tool palette makes it harder to use Rita. However, I do like the fact that you can use a single key to use a tool, e.g. P is Pen, A is Arrow, rather then having to use a cmd-key to activate the tool. I also like that the canvas has no preset size. It would also be nice to be able to define colors for the "Quick Color Menu". When pasting a copied selection, it should place it in the middle of the new document window. Speaking of new document windows, they should be larger (or at least one should be able to set the default size). The steps to zoom in and out are too large. In some cases the picture is either too big or too small. I also don't understand why there is a 0 pen size setting in the brush picker. You can't paste other graphics into Rita or can you paste the contents of Rita's pasteboard into other apps! It should also support more export formats (or just add them to the regular save box in the menu). Right now it only support tiff, but it would be handy to have jpeg, png and gif. I do like that only the visible part of the drawing is exported. I didn't experience a single crash or odd behaviour while using Rita. Overall a great start. I'd like to see how this application evolves, in particular with some of the UI and file/clipboard formats. [alert admin]

hp15c Emulator 1.1 (Mac OS X)
Why is this thing so HUGE visually? It's 40% larger then my real 12c. And the constant nagware with a 15 second delay is completely obnoxious and just makes you want to kill this calculator before you even get to try it out. [alert admin]

7-15 update Killed my 30gb 3G iPod ![]()

This update killed my 30gb 3G iPod. It was working perfectly until I applied the update to it. First it started skipping songs, then it would stop playing songs in the middle and would become unresponsive requiring a reboot. Finally, it won't boot at all and gives me the Folder with an exclamation mark. Nothing works. Now I can't even turn it off, it alternates between the Apple logo and the folder/exclamation mark. This iPod has worked perfectly well for the past year. Is this Apple's way to try to get me to buy a new iPod? This sucks [alert admin]

DEVONnote 1.0 (Mac OS X)
I mostly use the regular DevonThink application. DevonNote is a "lightweight" version of DT. Like DT, DN is a well written application that is suitable for many users who need a simpler scrapbook manager type program. I do feel bad for all the developers of the low-end scrapbook management/notepad type programs because the King (jr) has just moved into their turf. [alert admin]

CSSEdit 1.6.1 (Mac OS X)

This program just gets better all the time and has become an indispensable tool for developing css style sheets to use in my web based applications. It is a solid and well written cocoa application. I have looked and used most CSS editor programs that are available on Mac and Windows and I can honestly say that CSSEdit is at the top of the pack for a professional developer. [alert admin]

Great idea to make a read-only viewer for NoteTaker documents. Now I can distribute notebooks to users that don't have NoteTaker and they can view the contents. Works just like regular NT, with all the great features that NT has except that the notebooks are locked and don't save. [alert admin]

I thought the price was a little high at first too, but it quickly justified itself after using it for less then a week. I now think the price is very reasonable considering everything that Notetaker does, especially when compared to the "competition".

I'm not sure what kind's of problems you have been having, but I've had some problems with NT when I had installed Unsanity's Silk 3 beta earlier this week. The solution was to add NT (along with a few other cocoa apps) to the don't load list of Silk. I use NT every day and find that the latest release is the best yet. You mention DevonThink, but I don't see NT and DevonThink as…

I'm not sure why Luhmann has given SkinkHunt Notes such a low rating and compares it to a program that isn't even available yet. I keep my copy of Notes in a subfolder of the Applications folder, and everything works just peachy, including services.
