Fugu 1.2.0 (Mac OS X)

NOT Universal Binary (Runs Emulated on Intel Macs)

Though this is a very good SFTP client, version 1.2.0 is NOT Universal Binary as the developer has indicated here at VersionTracker. It is PowerPC-only and thus runs under Rosetta emulation on Intel-based Macs. [alert admin]

Files Are Encrypted - Disable Keychain Access

The comment by Stars26 is very relevant. By default, when creating an encrypted image, Mac OS X automatically checks the checkbox to remember the pass phrase in your keychain so you don't have to enter the pass pharase each time you open the DMG file. The encryption pass phrase dialog box is a Mac OS X dialog box, not an Encrypt This 1.01 dialog box, and this default behavior cannot be changed by…

Readers should be aware that "DMG Utility," while a great product, has a very different feature set and should not be compared to "Encrypt This." I welcome constructive input on how to improve "Encrypt This."

Where is Progress.app?

Sorry about that. I've removed the progress indicator functionality temporarily until I can get it working reliably. 1.0b6 should be up here in VersionTracker the morning of May 12, 2006. 1.0b6 also catches when you cancel the pass-phrase entry dialog properly.

Tiger's free Disc Utility

Thank you for your feedback.

Differences and similarities between Disk Utility and Encrypt This:

  • Disk Utility requires significantly more user interaction. You cannot drag a group of icons to the Disk Utility icon and have it automatically create an encrypted disk image in the same location as the original files. Encrypt This only asks for a pass-phrase when files are dropped onto it, no other action is required.
  • Encrypt This is an AppleScript, not a stand-alone…
