Budget Workbook 1.2.2 (Mac OS X)

Icon Use?

It's not the same icon as Budget. Regardless, it's the same developer, so the point's really moot. [alert admin]

ShapeShifter 2.0 (Mac OS X)

great app

Although I can't speak for the disgruntled, I've been using ShapeShifter since it was first released and theme-ing my Mac since before that. ShapeShifter makes life easier if you want to vary the look of your desktop and work environment. Many themes are a bit "too much", but there are several that simply refine the Aqua interface in a way that suits me. I can think of several themes that would likely satisfy users with simpler tastes, but when the claim is made that these themes "can't" be found, well, the effort hasn't been put forth. Search Google for "themes + Mac" for starters. I would never say that this speeds anything up for me, but it certainly doesn't slow anything down either. Good software, good company. [alert admin]

Apple Security Update 2004-05-24 (Mac OS X)

oops!

Ever had that humbling moment when you realized you mouthed off before it was warranted? Well, I've just had mine (again). Bookmarks bar is back, no trouble so far. Sorry for the flippant review - reactionism becomes no one. [alert admin]

Fidget Menu 1.0 (Mac OS X)

Full Featured

This looks to be a feature-rich launcher that does more than most other menu based utilities out there. I like the variety of actions that can be added to the menu, giving me more versatility than other launchers. If it's worth the price to you to have these features, go for it. If not, look at Rocket Menu, it's free, but does less. As for MoofMenu, it's not free and doesn't do anything that Rocket doesn't. [alert admin]

Requirements?

Have you all installed the other required files? I'm looking at the developer site and the sites for all the required "modules" and I'm a little confused about what these modules are. If it's crashing with all the appropriate system requirements, boo to the author. If not, I'm willing to give it a try this weekend. [alert admin]

osXigen 2.6 (Mac OS X)

Crashes?

I get a lot of crashing with this product. At least once per session, most recently with very small files (< 10M). Any one else finding the same? Otherwise, I really like the interface, usability, etc. I don't like the crashing. I'd still recommend it, it's a good alternative to other FTP client. [alert admin]

iEmpty 1.2 (Mac OS X)

Works...sort of

Does what it says it will do and does it gracefully. I'd like to know where the files "go" though/ I deleted about 1.5 G of stuck files (decompression limbo) only to find that I actually lost disc space! What happened? Once this is cleared up, I'll boost the rating a star, nutil then 4 will have to do. [alert admin]

My Checkbook 2.0.1 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)

Upgrade Path for Current Users

Although I'm just now investigating this application's usefulness to me, I took the time to visit the author's site to learn more about it's capabilities. In doing so, I found an upgrade link reporting that for $9.95 previously registered users can download an upgrade, and that users of v1.7 and above (I'm not familiar with the version history, but it looks like there were several updates) were eligible for free upgrades. So, a user like towne, who initially paid $7.50 for the application can upgarde for $9.95, bringing his total cost for this version to $17.45 - a savings of $2.50 over new users. This seemes like a reasonable upgrade path. In fact, it's one of the few that I've had experience with that actually favors the user and forces the developer to take a small loss. Hopefully this information will stop further complaints from those who would like to upgrade, but neglected to check the site in order to do so. [alert admin]

AudioConverter 1.0 (Mac OS X)

Doesn't do anything?

After downloading and expanding, this app doesn't launch. The developer site doesn't list this product, so no troubleshooting or other help is available. Wish it launch, I'm curious about it. [alert admin]

iMark 3.1.1 (Mac OS X)

Can't Use

App won't allow new accounts, Quits when configuring new users, even when following developers instructions. Seems like an interesting tool and the interface looks promising. [alert admin]
