X-Assist 0.8.1 (Mac OS X)

Thank you for the Leopard version update!!

This is a wonderful little app that anyone using OSX should use. Why? Because it picks up where (for some stupid reason) OSX left off. OSX in all its greatness let me down when it stopped doing some very logical things. X-Assist brings back some key features that simply makes our lives easier. My favourite feature by far is the ability to click on any window or palette of an application or the Finder and it will bring all of the windows/palettes to the front. For instance, an application like Hotline that has several small windows now comes to the front when you click on any window like the chat, file browser window, etc. In OSX it is simply too confusing as all your windows get mixed up (really idiotic). But now X-Assist helps take the confusion away and it greatly eases your life and improves productivity. It also has other very useful features too, although bringing an application to the front is to me nicest. This is a must-have app. Thank you Ortabe Pty Ltd for your continued support. And just to remind users of my erroneous post below, X-Assist does not let you double-click a window to minimize in place (like OS9), that app is called WindowShade and is now also available for 10.5, which is another must-have app. Great to have these utilities back - much appreciated. TechTool Pro 4.6.1 (Mac OS X)

DO NOT USE THIS PIECE OF JUNK - IT WILL WRECK YOUR MAC

Stay away from this awful app - it is DANGEROUS to your computer. Run version 4.6.1 on a G5 duo 2.3gig with Leopard. I just pressed the 'go' button to check my hardware. To my surprise (and near panic) my second internal HD would not mount afterwards. I could still see it with Disk Utilities but it would neither repair nor mount it. Nothing would work. I had to run Diskwarrior and repair the damage that this pos Techtools did. This app is a hazard. Do not use this. You have been warned. [alert admin]

Daemon Tools 4.11.2 (Windows NT, Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows XP, Windows 2000)

Excellent virtual drive app - the best.

Daemon Tools is one of the apps that I truly cannot live without. It has saved me dozens of cd and dvd disks for allowing me to mount iso and .bin files without first having to burn them to a disk. Very easy to use, lets you mount any number of drives, requires little resources. Been using it for well over 5 years and truly cannot live without it. Oh and it runs great on Vista too (version 4.11) Contrary to the comments by the guy below there are NO ads whatsoever. The installer will ask you during install if you want to see/support some of their sponsors. By unchecking the boxes, nothing is installed. So to the user below, try reading the simple instructions before adding junk to your pc. A beginner user shouldn't be reviewing an application when he/she can't even read. I strongly recommend this easy to use app to anyone who downloads files off the internet (iso, bin other types of disk images). Beats burning to a cd anytime. Have NEVER had an issue with this app. Congrats to the developers for a fine and FREE app. [alert admin]

ICQ 3.4.23 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)

This app is useless

The last time this app was updated was in 2003 - that's coming up to 5 years. You cannot send/receive files with this app. About all you can do is chat. How lame is this? If you can't send or receive files like you can with the pc version, than this is a completely useless app. This developer clearly has abandoned Macs. Total waste of time. [alert admin]

WindowShade X 4.1.2 (Mac OS X)

Does not work with OSX 10.5 Leopard

Don't bother installing this (v4.1.2) as it will not work with OSX 10.5 Leopard. It is a great app otherwise. I still hate the fact that Apple took away the minimize in place feature in favor of the useless minimize to the Dock feature, which I never use. Good thing I have a 23" display and can move windows out of the way. Otherwise WindowShade is the way to go. Hope the guys at Unsanity fix this soon. [alert admin]

Default Folder X 3.0.6 (Mac OS X)

Don't bother if you're running OSX 10.5

If you're running Leopard on your Mac, don't bother downloading version 3.06 as it won't work. And I agree that charging $35 for this utility to be damn near insane. Sure, it is a very useful app and one I quiet enjoyed in my OS9 days. But it truly is overpriced for what it does. Unfortunately Apple did absolutely nothing to improve the open/save windows or add some of the functionality that DF does. So I guess I'm back to hoping that Apple with do so with 10.6 as I'm not spending this much money on a simple utility. [alert admin]

X-Assist 0.7 (Mac OS X)

Love this app - but it doesn't work with 10.5

This is a must-have app. It is the most useful utility for the Mac OSX that I can think of. Unfortunately it stopped working once I installed 10.5 Leopard. Please, please update the app so that it works with 10.5. Not having the ability to double-click a window (that stays in place) is driving me crazy. PS: if you have 10.4 or even 10.3, get this app. You will never again want to live without it. [alert admin]

Apple Safari 3.0.3 (Windows NT, Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows XP, Windows 2000)

Now you'll see what Mac users see

Apple is doing the pc community a big favor by extending you the ability to see what Mac users see when they browse the net: nicer looking websites. As a professional web designer I have to test all my sites on different browser versions, on different systems. I am often disappointed to see my beautiful work look different on PCs. I have grown used to it as it being the norm. However I was pleased to see how Safari on pc looks every bit as good on a Mac, especially with regards to text. I don't know how a previous reviewer claimed it doesn't display bold properly. That isn't the case at all and as stated, text looks beautiful in Safari while in pc's EI, Firefox and Netscape it displays rather thin, rough. Firefox and Netscape are the same app and they are in turn a complete copy of EI. Only Safari does a different job and doesn't follow the tired EI recipe. Oh and the Safari's interface is uncluttered and elegant, unlike the other choices. So far I haven't come across any issues and for a beta I say this works pretty good and functions and looks every bit as good as Mac's v3. I recommend this, only if to extend to you a nicer, cleaner browsing experience, something that up to now only Mac users have had. [alert admin]

Love this app - but it doesn't work with 10.5

Oops, disregard that comment about doble-clicking the window so it stays in place, I was thinking of Window Shade, another must-have app to complement OSX. And yes, X-assist works fully with 10.4, despite the fact that it isn't listed in the info here.

Product won't launch

Oops, forgot to mention a very critical thing: I'm trying to run Tweak-Xp on my Mac G5 under VirtualPC. I should point out that every other program I run works fine even under emulation (as it is the real xp) so I would hope that Tweak would run too. If someone has a solution for this, please let me know. Thanks
