Macaroni 2.0.8 (Mac OS X)
Version 2.0.8 apparently broke something as I can no longer Clear History. Clear History button is dimmed. If it wern't for that it would get 5 stars. [alert admin]

dotMac Menu 2.7 (Mac OS X)
Constantly asks for keychain access
I constantly get the messages "iDiskHelper, dotMacHelper & dotMacExpHelper wants to use keychain login". I found these items in the Resources folder of the dotMac Menu.menu Package Contents. dotMac Menu.menu residing, in turn in Library/Bundles. I tried everything I could think of to make it stop asking for keychain access to no avail. Finally got tired of typing a password so uninstalled this program. Too bad because it has some useful features. [alert admin]

ForgetMeNot 3.0 (Mac OS X)
Doesn't Work with Safari 2.0.4
Won't load with Safari 2.0.4 either. Get message saying it hasn't been tested with 2.0.4. [alert admin]

WiFind 1.1 (Mac OS X)
Tried V1.1 & absolutely nothing shows up in the AirPort menu - no lock/unlock symbol, etc. Also agree that it's a bit pricy; should be donationware at best. Somewhat of a good idea, however. [alert admin]

JiWire 3.0 (Mac OS X)
I'm sitting 3 feet away from an AirPort base station on a fully functional wireless AirPort network yet this widget says "No Wi-Fi Signals". Previous 2.0 version seemed to work OK. [alert admin]

Lights Out 2.2.7 (Mac OS X)
Bought Lights Out as part of a pkg deal with Tiger Cache Cleaner. Tried it on a PowerBook & iMac & found it just complicated things. Sent a question to the developer regarding its use & a month later I'm still waiting for a reply. For me Energy Saver is more than adequate & see no reason to modify it with this hackie. SyncTwoFolders 1.0.5 (Mac OS X)
When I try to sync identically named folders on AirPort networked computers I get the message "You can't select 2 folders where one is within the other". Don't understand this. If I can't sync identically named folders this program has no utility. [alert admin]

DropCopy 1.2.1 (Mac OS X)
Great program that works as advertised for me on a G4 PowerBook & G5 iMac both running 10.4.7. I wish, however, there was a way to increase the size of the text when you drop something into the drop zone. it's so small I can barely read it. Also would like to be able to transfer files to separate partitions on a hard drive. Haven't figured a way to do this, is it possible? [alert admin]

Why would anyone want to run FireFox on an Intel Mac under a Windows environment?

Amen! Also, why all the foreign language support junk that does nothing but take up drive space for people who only use English? Yes, I know those language files can be deleted but it's just one more hassle to put up with.

It may not make any sense but Andreas is correct. Apple needs to do a better job of explaining their updates.

iDefrag is an optimization & defragmentation program which works on FILES. Disk Warrior, on the other hand, works on the disk's directory -it doesn't defrag or optimize disk files. By running Disk Warrior you have not been optimizing your disk, you've been repairing its directory. Unless you have many extremely large files or your disk is just about full, defragging & optimizing under OS X is mostly a waste of time & money. Besides, built…

EVERY version of the OS has had some problems including Panther, Jaguar, etc, etc. Following your reasoning one would expect software to be backward compatible so people who didn't like 10.x could run it in 9.x or maybe 8.x or 7.x. You need to face up to the realities of progress.

3.0.3 won't startup my new G5 iMac either contrary to what is stated on DW support site " The new iMac G5 (with built-in iSight) models ... can be started from the current CD". The work-around described to repair the directory on a Mac that can't be started from the CD is a cluge, unacceptable solution.

I have the 4.0.3 CD so thought I would reinstall then update to 4.0.4 since that ran fine before. Discover, however, Micromat web site doesn't list the 4.0.4 updater & can't get it via Version Tracker either. I'm about to say adios to TechTool Pro.

This sure explains why Web Proxy (HTTP) always has a check mark with TA installed & ScamBlocker enabled even though I previously unchecked it & locked the network preferences panel. ScamBlocker for me works wonderfully as it has alerted me numerous time to fradulant web sites before I accessed them. Typically the way it has worked is I'll get what appears to be a legit e-mail from a company I have done business with that…
