Now Up-to-Date & Contact 4.5.3 (Mac OS X)

Installer crash!

The installer crashed my server! The client software installed fine, but when I went to update the server, it crashed hard. This box has 1TB of RAID storage on it, all of which will be rebuilding for the rest of the day. Needless to say, I'm done with this horrible software. It has done nothing but get worse over the years. [alert admin]

FileMaker Pro 7.0v2 (Mac OS X)

Solid upgrade

This is a solid upgrade to a really amazing application. FileMaker 7 offers so many advances over previous versions, I'm awash with new features. As a developer, I've already realized great advantage in time savings and power with the new relational model and ability to store documents in container fields, and can't wait to dig in to the rest. Apple Wireless Keyboard/Mouse 1.1 (Mac OS X)

Perfect

No problems at all with update, or usage after. But just what did this version fix? It seemed to work fine before, if a little slow to recognize on the first use after power-on. [alert admin]

FileMaker Pro 7.0 (Mac OS X)

Truly Awesome

As a 15-year FileMaker developer, I believe this version is the first version that is really targeted at offering true power to the developer. The number of improvements to the core usability of the software is more than the last 3 updates combined, and I'll find immediate use for nearly all of them. I recognize that some people are nit-pickng a few missing features, and there are a few little things that I wish were there, but that's totally missing the forest for the trees. The new power in relationships, vastly higher limits in field and file size, multiple tables per file, ability to store documents in container fields, control of text attributes (bold, color) in fields, and massively improved security are incredible. This takes FileMaker from being somewhat faster and better to develop with, compared to other programs in it's space, to overwhelmingly better in every area. These improvements go right to my bottom line as a developer: I truly believe this will make me more money. [alert admin]

Sofa 0.6fc3 (Mac OS X)

Used to love it

This used to be such a great app a few months ago, but now it tries to be way too much. It uses so much of the processor that it causes iTunes to run horribly! What's the point! Maybe it's a Panther issue, I hope so. [alert admin]
